Six years after its initial television broadcast in 2014, Forevermore currently is re-airing on Kapamilya Online Live, making it possible for us to see Liza Soberano take on the now-iconic fictional character Maria Agnes Calay – her first-ever starring role in a teleserye.
Liza has grown from being a simple teenager who just dreamt of making it to the local entertainment scene to becoming one of the most influential actresses of her generation. Let this gallery show you her splendid evolution from babyhood to ultimate stardom, starring in other primetime top-rating teleseryes such as Dolce Amore in 2016 and Bagani in 2018!
Born to a Filipino father (John Castillo) and American mother (Jacqulyn Elizabeth Hanley) as Hope Elizabeth Soberano on January 4, 1998, she and her younger brother Justin were raised by their paternal grandparents in California, USA when their parents separated. At 10 years old, she moved here to the Philippines to live with her Daddy John and their relatives, and eventually pursued a modelling career at the age of 12.
A talent scouted spotted her in 2013 and introduced her to current manager Ogie Diaz, who encouraged her to further improve her Tagalog-speaking skills in order for her to bag good TV and movie projects. It took her three years to fully grasp the language and quite some time in honing her acting skills by attending Star Magic workshops before being launched as part of the elite Star Magic Batch 2013.
As a rookie, the 22-year-old actress was cast in bit roles in the “Mac Ulit-Ulit” (2011) and “Flores De Yayo” (2013) narratives of Wansapanataym, the “Singsing” and “Box” episodes of Maalaala Mo Kaya, the 2012 soap opera Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo, and in the youth-oriented sitcom Luv U.
Liza then went on to become the third wheel to the KathNiel loveteam in the top-rating series Got To Believe and in the movie “Must Be…Love,” until her chemistry with Enrique Gil in the 2013 blockbuster hit “She’s The One” was noticed. They were eventually paired in Forevermore that marked her starring role debut.
Her mesmerizing beauty, promising acting prowess, and notable wit and eloquence catapulted her into becoming one of the popular personalities of her generation, and be included in the ASAP It Girls alongside Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Barretto, and Janella Salvador. She then went on to headline a slew of teleseryes and movies opposite on-and-off-screen sweetheart Enrique Gil, with Make It With You and “Alone/Together” as their latest projects.
She may have to back out in portraying Darna in its highly-anticipated remake, but many people still regard her as the mighty heroine because of how she bravely voices out her opinions on social and political issues.
The photos in this gallery absolutely show how Liza transformed from pretty girl to a gorgeous young lady and eventually become a phenomenal onscreen darling. She mentioned once in an interview that she never imagined herself being in the spotlight and performing on stage, but she is definitely destined to be a star with her throwback photos in a sparkly pink dress while showing that big smile and bewitching bangs!
These adorable portraits of her will surely forever remind usof her sweet beginnings and how she inspires other girls to fulfill their dreams, too!
Through the years, Liza has definitely not only evolved when it comes to her visuals, but as an individual and artist as well who chooses to put her platform into good use as well! Way to go, queen!
