It was a feel-good afternoon with Seth Fedelin and Francine Diaz bringing their genuine ‘kakulitan’ on Kapamilya Chat. The new pair talked about their upcoming series “Dirty Linen” wherein they get to act with and learn from the industry’s finest.
Francine and Seth were present in the recent Special Celebrity Screening for “Dirty Linen,” which was attended by fans, guests, and the media. While it wasn’t their first time watching the pilot episode, FranSeth was admittedly scared about fans’ reaction to their scenes.
“Kasi first time namin ‘to na pinag-pair sa screen. First time namin na nagkaroon ng mga eksenang kilig, eye to eye, hug, iyakan. Sobrang kabado din po kami everytime,” Francine opened up. Seth, who still considers himself a neophyte, admits there’s pressure in working with a new love team partner and the industry’s biggest stars. But while this project comes with intense pressure, they enjoy the process, a big part of which is learning from the veterans.
Fans went wild watching them in the screening, and they take that as validation of a job well done. With that, they credit their co-actors and directors for guiding them, “They help us to grow sa craft namin and as a person.” They recalled filming their first scene together, which felt a bit awkward since their characters’ dynamic is far from real life. In such instances, FranSeth would humbly ask their directors’ help in mixing the right amount of emotions and ‘kilig.’
Sometimes even they are surprised with their growth, as Francine puts it, “Bigla mo na lang mare-realize na, ‘Ay, hindi na kami gano’n tulad ng dati. Nagbago na kami.’” No more playing games or getting spoon-fed on set. They now dive deep into the story and their characters’ motivation. They are more diligent in reading the script. More importantly, they’re trying to learn how to be more confident with their skills, as Seth mused, “Lalabas kasi ‘pag hindi ka confident sa ginagawa mo. ‘Yung result hindi ka rin confident.”
Working with veteran stars is a privilege to learn more about their craft. According to Francine, she’s always wanted to act with John Arcilla and Angel Aquino. She worked with Janice de Belen and Tessie Tomas before but she gets to interact with them more in this new series.
She gushed when asked about Janine Gutierrez, saying the latter is like a big sister looking after them. Janine shows organic concern (like when Francine was wearing a short skirt in a scene) and loves to offer them food. Seth added that they discovered Janine’s humor.
The same level of admiration was given to Zanjoe Marudo, who treats Francine like a younger sibling. By that, it means there are ‘asaran’ and fun moments, like when he makes her laugh in the middle of a scene. “Ang saya kasi parang na-experience ko na parang may kuya talaga ako,” she said.
FranSeth describes “Dirty Linen” as a dark revenge-thriller that revolves around justice, truth, and love, “Kung hanggang saan aabutin ‘yung pagmamahal mo para sa pagpoprotekta mo sa pamilya mo.” He plays Nico, the son of Joel Torre and brother of Janine’s characters. Meanwhile, Francine is Kiara, the rich girl longing for her mother’s affection.
Catch the premiere of “Dirty Linen” this January 23, at 9:30 pm, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
