It was in 2019 when ABS-CBN announced that up-and-coming young actress Jane De Leon was going to be the Darna of the new generation. This may have drawn mixed reactions from avid fans of the iconic Pinay heroine and Kapamilya viewers, but she’s able to prove through her action and drama stints through the years that she’s truly deserving of the highly coveted role.
As the much-awaited Mars Ravelo’s Darna has finally premiered on Monday, August 15, we’re all definitely looking forward to see her fully transform into the well-loved superheroine. But while we are waiting for that to happen, let’s get to know Jane a bit more through this Kapamilya Snaps feature!
Ever since she was hailed as the new Darna, a lot of people have probably grown curious about her. And a great way to find out more about her is by following her on social media! Here are the seven things we learned about her:
She loves to share photos of herself
A quick glance on her Instagram would make us infer that she’s fond of taking photos and videos of herself. She gives updates to her followers through some of her beautiful portraits, or sometimes move us with inspirational quotes that she writes in the captions of her posts. Having a flawless and deific beauty, Jane is always camera-ready as she could take pics in-between takes, during quick breaks in her dressing room, or while waiting at her car.
She’s a certified fashionista
Aside from her eye-catching beauty, we can also notice that the 23-year-old actress also has a versatile sense of style that absolutely works whatever she wears. May it be as laidback as her plain top and denim bottoms combo, as fabulous as her stylish dresses, or as simple as her workout and beach outfits, our girl can truly slay!
She apparently has an active lifestyle
Being the new Darna indeed requires a lot of work not just in imbibing the character through her acting, but also in keeping herself physically fit and strong. Thus, in order to achieve and maintain it, she religiously works out and even tries other activities outside the gym, such as archery.
She loves to travel
Work could be really hectic and exhausting, so just like us, Jane also yearns to go to different places to unwind and explore a bit. She may not possess Darna’s power to fly, but she has already gone to various picturesque destinations here in the Philippines and even abroad.
She’s a certified animal lover
Whenever she’s not at work, we can probably see her at home with her cats and dog. In the first episode of her vlog released last August 7, the Kapamilya actress revealed that she’s a happy fur-mom to 14 cats. In a recent Instagram story that she shared, one of her co-stars caught her petting a cat they saw while at an undisclosed place.
She seemingly had a fun childhood
We may not be able to see her grow right before our eyes, but Jane gave us a glimpse of how her life was before she entered show business through some of her IG posts.
She learned how to play drums and quickly fell in love with the instrument when she was still in high school. Besides, she seemed to play at arcades and carnivals and enjoyed it as much as she did during her recent trip at an amusement park.
But what delighted us more was when she shared a throwback photo of her joining a pageant when she was still a kid, to mark her 21st birthday in 2019. She attached a lengthy caption reminiscing about the challenges and hardships that she went through before making it to where she is at present.
She also reminded “Past Jane”: “So I’m reminding you now NOT to give up; Huwag ngayon, because big things are about to happen. I promise!!! GOD has been so good and gracious to you. Be thankful always on all these blessings that have come your way. Magpasalamat ka lang lagi sa Panginoon at sa lahat ng naging parte ng journey mong ito. We’re almost there! Kaya AJA!!! [sic]”
She loves her family so much
Circumstances then may have been tough for her, but Jane has grown into a strong and determined young woman. All thanks to her biggest source of inspiration and strongest support system—her family!
Aside from photos of herself and other work-related images that we could see on IG, she shared a few snaps of her beloved family, too! We get to see a glimpse of her tight bond with her Mommy Hearty and Kuya Francis, and how much she misses her late Daddy Rouel.
