Can’t Buy Me Love Chinese Food Mukbang

There are two things Binondo is known for – its vibrant wanderings and satisfying cuisine. It’s no wonder the stars of “Can’t Buy Me Love” fell in love with the place, their teleserye’s location.

In the latest episode of “Can’t Buy Me Love All Access,” a Made For YouTube series, Anthony Jennings and Maris Racal aka SnoRene, together with their castmates Kaila Estrada, Vivoree Esclito, Alora Sasam, and Gello Marquez indulged in a Chinese food mukbang. But here’s the twist – they were filmed eating with funny filters on.

The gang had fun experimenting with different filters, but they certainly enjoyed the food more. First on the menu was Ku Chai Dumpling made of a savory pork filling enclosed in chewy translucent wrap. They loved its soft texture. Maris shared that Belle Mariano introduced her to its fried version with chili, noting that it’s even more delicious.

They’ve grown familiar with the delightful aroma of authentic Chinese dumplings as their taping location is close to dumpling stores in Binondo. “Pagbukas mo pa lang sa dressing room, alam mo na may nag-order ng dumplings,” remarked Alora. They mentioned that there’s a bakery below the tenement, which is why they’re always greeted by the smell of freshly baked pan de sal.

They also feasted on the famous fried chicken from one of Binondo’s oldest restaurants, along with the iconic fried siopao from a longstanding establishment in Manila Chinatown.

Maris shared that she was able to talk to the owner of the fried siopao store that was established around 30 years ago, and she was amazed by the workers’ efficiency and dedication. In fact, the people of Binondo are known for their relentless hustle. “’Pag nagsho-shoot kami do’n, wala masyadong bystanders o nanonood kasi busy sila magtrabaho,” she noted.

The mouth-watering food trip continued with Binondo’s renowned fresh lumpia, each bite evoking nostalgic memories for Kaila, as it used to be her grandpa’s favorite ‘pasalubong’ for her. And her favorite element of the dish? The peanut sugar.

They topped off the delectable bonding experience with egg tarts, which they likened to a leche flan but with a gooier texture and a subtle sweetness.
