As a scion of one of the famous clans in the Philippines, it’s truly amazing how Donny Pangilinan has managed to step out of the shadows of his prominent kin, who are well-known in the fields of entertainment, politics, and business, and become a star in his own right.
Seven years since his showbiz career took off in 2016 as a video jock (VJ) of the popular music channel MYX, he has been unstoppable in showcasing his different talents – from hosting, dancing, and singing, to acting through his appearances in a number TV and movie appearances.
And this 2023, he’s poised to not just make us kilig, but to also display his caliber as an actor and a leading man in his much-awaited primetime debut Can’t Buy Me Love, which is set to premiere this coming October 16!
But before we get to see Donny in another light in one of this year’s highly anticipated Kapamilya teleseryes, let’s reminisce about his impressive television journey in this episode of Kapamilya Spotlight!
Aside from MYX, it was through his stint in ASAP Natin ‘To that he’s able to exhibit his skills in hosting, along with his dancing and singing chops. In 2018, he was given his first acting gig, which was the daytime series Playhouse, headlined by Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Marudo. It was succeeded by his appearance in the “Dayuhan” episode of Ipaglaban Mo! the following year.
Donny once again showed off his hosting prowess in the Filipino-Korean variety program Aja! Aja! Tayo sa Jeju, alongside Robi Domingo, Kristel Fulgar, and Shine Kuk. It was entirely shot in Jeju Island, South Korea in late 2019 and was broadcast by Kapamilya Channel and A2Z in 2021.
In mid-2021, he finally scored his first-ever lead role in a series via He’s Into Her and its second sequel, He’s Into Her Season 2, the following year, in which he charmed us as Deib Lohr Enrile and he got paired with Belle Mariano.
And beginning October 16, Donny aims to win our hearts anew as the loving and gumptious Bingo Mariano in Can’t Buy Me Love. Are you ready to fall in his charms once again, Kapamilya?
Can’t Buy Me Love will be broadcast on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, Jeepney TV, TFC, and A2Z beginning October 16.
