They might have come from different backgrounds and started their respective careers in different periods, but the universe had its wondrous way of intertwining the paths of Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano and turning them into one the brightest stars and hottest loveteams of this generation.
And after years of being in the local entertainment scene, winning our hearts with their captivating splendor and impressing us with their promising talents, the time has finally come for DonBelle – as what their team-up is fondly called – to further shine and show the world what they’ve got through the much-awaited romantic-comedy drama Can’t Buy Me Love, which marks their first-ever teleserye in leading roles.
But before we get to meet their latest characters Bingo Mariano and Caroline Tiu, let’s look back on their journey together in this feature!
They might have appeared in the same project in 2018 (in the daytime series Playhouse), but it was only in the 2020 flick “James and Pat and Dave” that they got to share the screen together. Despite being short, but that scene was already enough for their palpable chemistry to be noticed and the rise of the DonBelle tandem ensued.
Donny and Belle were tapped to headline the teen drama series He’s Into Her in 2021, in which they took on the roles of Deib Lohr Enrile and Maxpein Zin Del Valle Luna. Their first team-up was indeed a huge success, so they were subsequently given their first full-length film together “Love Is Colorblind,” which was also released that same year across various digital platforms.
Following the second season of He’s Into Her in 2022, DonBelle went on to star in another movie, “An Inconvenient Love,” which ushered the return or Star Cinema to the theaters. It clinched the Best Asian Feature Film/Telemovie category at the ContentAsia Awards last August 2023.
And this year, Donny and Belle are finally top-billing their first-ever teleserye together, Can’t Buy Me Love, which is one of the most highly anticipated Kapamilya shows of 2023. As what we’ve mentioned, they would portray Bingo and Caroline, two people who come from different walks of life and possess extremely different personalities that would cross paths due to an unforeseen circumstance. Their respective characters would allow them to show different sides of themselves that we haven’t seen yet, making this series truly exciting to watch.
Can’t Buy Me Love will be broadcast on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, Jeepney TV, TFC, and A2Z beginning October 16.
