One of the hard truths about relationships is that individuals who give too much of themselves to their partners without receiving an equal amount of love in return will eventually lose their sense of self. Take Camille (Yukii Takahashi) from “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” for example. Despite enduring various forms of abuse from David (McCoy de Leon), her partner and the father of her unborn child, she chooses to come out of the other side of pain still full of love, especially for the sake of their baby.
The once beautiful and intelligent student Camille has become a martyr, her appearance worn out from tirelessly tending to David. Her life and worth as a woman have been shattered by her choice to stay with him. Watching her endure such undeserved torment at his hands, we, viewers, feel a strong urge to rescue Camille ourselves and bring her back to her parents, where she would receive genuine care and support.
Watch this Friday 5 video from “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” and you'll find yourself praying that Camille finally opens her eyes from being blinded by her love for David and rediscovers her worth as a woman.
Even though Camille knew it wasn't safe at home after the violent fight between David's father, Rigor, and his grandmother, Tindeng (Charo Santos), she still followed David's wish to stay and not move out. In that scene, when David came home from 'work,' Camille immediately told him about the intense argument between Rigor and Tindeng. Worried about her safety and that of the baby in her womb, she pleaded with David to find a separate place to live. Instead of showing concern, David yelled at Camille, telling her to stay quiet and not meddle in the household affairs. He accused her of only bringing him problems and stress, when in reality, it was the other way around.
Camille is holding on to David's promise to marry her, but those sweet promises were only at the beginning when he was trying to win her heart. Now, when Camille asked about David's plans for their marriage, he was enraged and nearly hurt her. His words were venomous, making it clear that he only cared about the baby Camille is carrying, not about her well-being.
In an earlier scene, David confided in his equally womanizing father, Rigor, expressing his growing weariness with Camille. He admitted that he feels impregnating her was only a mistake.
We also felt deep sympathy for Camille when David yelled at her after she defended Tanggol (Coco Martin) against the false accusation made by Rigor’s mistress, Lena (Mercedes Cabral), who claimed that Tanggol had pushed her down the stairs.
We desperately wished for her to wake up and break free from David after she caught him texting another
woman. When she confronted him about it, David merely yelled at her and told her she had no right to act like a jealous wife since they aren’t married. Viewers' anger doubled when Rigor sided with David and scolded Camille instead. Rigor told her she shouldn't meddle with David's belongings and not add to their family's problems.
When will Camille realize that it's not worth enduring the pain for a worthless man like David? Watch what happens next in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” airing weeknights, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5, and A2Z.
