In reality, many parents find their relationship with their son- or daughter-in-law tricky. The situation becomes even more toxic when your child’s spouse is as rude as Rigor (John Estrada) from FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.

He’s just plain evil. And one of his favorite people to make suffer is his mother-in-law, Tindeng (Charo Santos). Re-watch their confrontations in this Friday 5 video. Be warned, though: Rigor’s toxicity will make your blood boil.

The root of this conflict, apart from Rigor’s naturally nasty attitude, is his gargantuan hatred toward Tanggol (Coco Martin), the son Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) had from rape and who happens to be Tindeng’s favorite grandchild.

When Rigor punishes Tanggol, expect him to scalp Tindeng next, as he said that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. He called Tindeng “salot”, forcing Marites to mediate and take her mother’s side. She’s hurt, of course, to hear her mom receive insulting words, particularly when they come from her husband. However, Rigor couldn’t care less. He only cares about his ego.

When he went berserk chasing Tanggol with a rifle around their neighborhood, Tindeng stood in the middle and dared him to shoot her first. Mokang (Lovi Poe)’s parents Nita (Susan Africa) and Marsing (Pen Medina) got into the mix, frustrated since their daughter got dragged into Tanggol’s mess. Tindeng asserted her grandson’s innocence, prompting Marites to ask somebody to rehash the events. Noy (Lou Veloso) reacted that Marites always takes Rigor’s side, thus blinded by the truth.

In another scene, Rigor criticized Tanggol for being tagged as the suspect in Roda (Joel Lamangan)’s robbery and attempted murder case. Of course, Tindeng defended her grandson. Rigor replied with a threat that he’d arrest even her, and even Marites, once they shield Tanggol from the consequences of his actions. “Paparusahan mo ako sa pagiging lola sa apo ko?” was Tindeng’s fierce response.

The food might look appetizing but Rigor wouldn’t dare touch anything that Tindeng chipped in for, saying that he doesn’t want to be forced to reciprocate any of her seemingly good actions. Tindeng failed to control her emotions. She said that she isn’t like Rigor, who always expects something in return.
