Ever since it started in 2023, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo has been filling our weeknights with action, drama, and thrills. However, being the reflection of reality, a teleserye wouldn’t be complete without a tinge of kilig. And this well-loved action-drama series, of course, definitely has it, which is not only exclusive for the young characters, but the oldies as well.
While the romantic affairs of Tanggol (Coco Martin) with Mokang (Lovi Poe) and Bubbles (Ivana Alawi), as well as of his younger brother Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) with his now-girlfriend Annika (Dexie Diaz) have brought us kilig, their Lola Tindeng’s (Charo Santos) growing closeness with her boss, Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas) makes our hearts flutter as well. They only prove that not only young love can spread kilig, but the young-at-hearts, too!
And in this episode of Kapamilya Update, let’s revisit the moments when Tindeng and Facundo, whose “ship name” is “FacunDeng,” showed unexpected chemistry in their scenes together.
Let’s begin with that instance when he expressed his concern for Tindeng upon catching her thoroughly wiping the glass walls of their fish pond. He told her to take a rest and to ask for help from other house helpers if she already felt exhausted, then chastised his wife, Señora Bettina (Tessie Tomas), for giving her laborious household chores. When asked by Bettina why he was too concerned, Facundo retorted that he just didn’t want them to get in trouble if ever something bad would happen to Tindeng.
Thus, as a way of expressing her apology to Tindeng, Bettina gave her some of her old clothes, which the former immediately put on after their working hours. Facundo caught her and Noy (Lou Veloso) having fun as she sashayed in the kitchen.
As Bettina accused Tindeng of stealing one of her prized jewelries and later found out that she just misplaced it, Facundo apologized to Tindeng on behalf of his wife. They then talked about how Bettina’s blood seems to always boil when it comes to her, as well as what made her and Noy decide to work for their family despite not knowing them so well.
The bond between Tindeng and Facundo continued to deepen when they discussed their respective families. He was impressed by her courage to choose to leave her family and start anew in life, as well as her eloquence and mindset, which made him realize why his granddaughter, Katherine (Ara Davao) loves speaking with her.
He apparently found consolation when she conveyed, “Señor, lahat naman tayo may kanya-kanyang tapang. Hindi lang naman po sa pagsisimula ng bagong buhay makikita ang pagiging matapang. Minsan, ‘yong pagpili mo na manatili sa isang sitwasyon, simbolo rin ‘yon ng katapangan.”
We were convinced that the “FacunDeng ship” had already set sail when Facundo offered to take Tindeng to the market upon seeing her walk on her own while he and his minions were on their way to a business meeting. She was initially hesitant to accept it, but eventually heeded it.
As his meeting got cancelled at the last minute, Facundo decided to just accompany Tindeng in her shopping and even help her pick fresh produce for the viand that Bettina was about to cook for their lunch that day. Viewers probably couldn’t help but get kilig as they got to know each other further by asking interesting questions and exchanging sweet and bright smiles.
While it’s still impossible for romance to bloom between them since Facundo is married to Bettina, we’re thrilled to see where their growing closeness is going to take them.
Are you one of those who are hooked on the unexpected chemistry of “FacunDeng”? Well, you better watch out for their scenes together by not missing an episode of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, weeknights at 8 PM, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5 and A2Z.
