To say that FPJ’s Batang Quiapo captures the reality of urban living is an understatement. Not only does it entertain, but it makes viewers feel at home through elements that illustrate the real lives of people in the Quiapo area of Manila. Case in point: Tanggol (Coco Martin)’s family.
To say that FPJ’s Batang Quiapo captures the reality of urban living is an understatement. Not only does it entertain, but it makes viewers feel at home through elements that illustrate the real lives of people in the Quiapo area of Manila. Case in point: Tanggol (Coco Martin)’s family.

There's Charos Santos, who depicts a grandmother’s unwavering love. She plays Tindeng, the only person that makes Tanggol feel cared for and safe. She has her long-time best friend named Noy portrayed by Lou Veloso. In the story, Tindeng and Noy sell typical Quiapo items like candles, shirts with the image of the Black Nazarene, prayer books, and herbs, among others. Tindeng is also a known ‘manghuhula’ of Quiapo.

Also in the powerhouse cast are Susan Africa and Pen Medina as the parents of Lovi Poe’s character, with Allan Paule as a cop. John Estrada plays the grumpy father of Coco’s character, but in real life, he is one of the most pleasant guys.
