Avid viewers of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo arguably found themselves at the edge of their seats as we witnessed the “almost” encounters of our mighty unlikely hero Tanggol (Coco Martin) with his estranged father Ramon (Christopher de Leon) this week.

The Week 14 commenced with the intense face-off between the groups of Tanggol and Greg (RK Bagatsing) amidst the latter’s attempt to escape from the authorities who were haunting them down. They might be small in number and disadvantaged in terms of firearms, but Tanggol’s squad bravely kept pace with the opponents, with Tanggol compelling Mokang to hold a gun despite her refusal. Aside from making Greg and his henchmen back out, Tanggol was also able to snatch the silver briefcase containing the PHP 60 million-worth of high-grade cocaine that Ramon took home from South Korea.

While going out the hotel, the group once again figured in a gunfight against Greg’s group, but this time with Ramon, who was dumbfounded to see Tanggol who exactly looked like him in his younger years. Thus, he strongly stopped his henchmen from firing at them as they escaped.

Meanwhile, Angkong (Joonee Gamboa) was infuriated upon discovering that it was Police MGen. Augustus V. Pacheco (Julio Diaz) who sordered the operation that led to his arrest, as well as of his right-hand Roy (Jeffrey Tam), wife Aurora (Odette Khan), and business partner Mr. Wu (Ricardo Cepeda). He and his partner Amanda (Lorna Tolentino) had been their ally and protector in Red Phoenix, until they chose to betray him. So, he agreed to Roy’s suggestion for them to ask the help of Ramon.

Desperate to find out the whereabouts of his younger sister Mokang (Lovi Poe) and take her back home, Edwin (Ping Medina) sought assistance from the group spearheaded by Teban (Lordivino “Bassilyo” Ignacio). Even though he was hesitant to do take on the initiation rites, which was to hold-up a passerby in exchange of their help and being part of the group, he still did it and was successful.

The amount of the drugs they seized might be tempting to resell as it meant hefty money, but both Supremo (Lito Lapid) and Tanggol declined to keep and make money out of them amidst plea from the rest of their respective groups. Tanggol told them that no one should benefit from those nor would it destroy other people’s lives. Although they got immediately got in trouble on the supposed first day of their “bagong buhay,” Tanggol was commended by Berting (Joey Marquez) and earned additional pogi points from Mokang.

In the second episode, we’ve witnessed how the return of Tindeng (Charo Santos) and Noy (Lou Veloso) at the Dimaguiba residence triggered the rage of Rigor (John Estrada) anew. But unlike before, Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) has learned to courageously fight for her mother and uncle and face the fuming wrath of her husband.

Still shocked by the sight of Tanggol, Ramon asked his sister Olga (Irma Adlawan) regarding the outcome of her search for his estranged son many years ago. Despite reiterating to him that his baby Mama already relocated to Bicol, he still refused to believe her and planned to start his own hunt in Quiapo with the help of his henchmen.

In the succeeding episode, Amanda was able to figure out through her conversation with one of her lackeys Ato (Robbie Packing) that he’s not really a spy, but Primo (Lito Lapid) and his group just caught him while he was doing his tasks for the day. So, it’s probably them who hi-jacked one of their vans that was supposed to deliver their effects to Angkong. Hearing Primo’s name appalled Amanda, hinting that she probably has a deep connection to him, which we’re about to find in the coming days.

Since they’ve known each other for a long time and she was convinced that Ato was telling the truth, she freed him. Unfortunately, the wounded Ato was caught by Augustus and his henchmen and got killed on the spot despite insisting his innocence.

At their home, Augustus quizzed Amanda about the information she got from Ato, to which she lied by telling him that the culprit behind the impediment of their operation was the new partner tapped by Angkong, who they are yet to find out the identity. With regards to emancipating Ato, Augustus scrutinized her for being already soft, which could be a factor for him to lose his trust on her. However, she reassured him that she is indeed still the same Amanda that he used to know.

As their lives are currently now in danger because of the high-grade cocaine in their possession, Mokang couldn’t help but be anxious about her and their group’s safety, as well as be worried about her family, who she’s been longing to see ever since they left Quiapo. And her instincts were indeed right as her family doesn’t only think about her, but also their standing debt to the ruthless and grumpy Roda (Joel Lamangan). As they failed to pay on the deadline they agreed to, Roda brought a couple who wishes to lease their house that the Dimaculangans mortgaged in exchange of money that they used for Mokang’s debut.

Meanwhile, Ramon and his minions went to Quiapo to look for Tanggol not just to take back the briefcase containing high-grade cocaine, but to also find out if he really is his long-lost son that he’s been looking for. He passed on the task of continuously transacting with Angkong and helping him and his companions go out of prison.

The fourth episode commenced with Rigor trying his luck for the duration of his suspension to be shortened, but to no avail as Police Lt. Col. Manuel Suarez (King Gutierrez) told him that his case is for the decision of the higher-ups and that it normally takes three months to last. Since he’s already desperate to get back to service, PO2 Lena Cortez (Mercedes Cabral) offered to help him compose a position paper, through which he would persuade the higher-ups that he didn’t do anything wrong and that his records in the past 20 years have been spotless, until the present.

While the Dimaculangans are still thinking of a way to pay their debt to Roda, the latter already sought the assistance of the barangay officials to settle their dispute. Distressed to resolve their dilemma, Marsing (Pen Medina) finally accepted his fellow beggars’ offer to help him in executing the “bundol-kotse” scheme, in which he had to pretend that he’s hit by a passing vehicle and then asked the driver for hefty compensation. Just when they thought that he’d already found his first victim, Marsing was accidentally hit by another vehicle owned by JP (Dino Imperial) swho’s with the other classmates of Mokang who attended her 18th birthday party.

Kidlat (Bryan "Smugglaz" Lao) was able to escape from the hospital and return to their hideout. They immediately went on their mission to look for Tanggol. And they’re able to find both Tanggol and Mokang when they paid their family in Quiapo a visit. Mokang might not be able to talk to her parents, but Tanggol was able to tell Tindeng and Marites about the newest trouble they got embroiled in, as well as his plan of asking Rigor to help him turn over the briefcase of drugs in their possession to the authorities.

Even though Mokang reminded Tanggol about Berting’s advise to him before they left and his promise to her that he would live a brand-new life, her pleas fell on deaf ears as he refused to run from Kidlat and the rest of the gang as they surrounded them.

And in the fifth episode, Ramon had finally crossed paths with Marites around two decades since he raped her and eventually got her pregnant. She saw him, but wasn’t able to recognize that it was him.

After their failed operations, Amanda and Augustus hastily transferred their drug den to another location. One of their security guards surrendered the phone thrown at the premises of their bodega, which Primo and his group used to communicate with them. And they succeeded to make them agree to the PHP20 million-ransom they asked in exchange of the drugs they’re able to seize from them.

Since he was just all by himself and Mokang couldn’t help him fight their opponents, Tanggol was unfortunately got beaten up by Kidlat’s group until he got severely injured and eventually lost his consciousness. Thankfully, one of Quaipo Church’s priests was able to recognize Tanggol as the grandchild of Tindeng. Ramon and his lackeys happen to also pass by the area, yet he didn’t notice Tanggol as the latter was being brought by the church staff into the office.
