McCoy de Leon’s character as David in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo is currently the trigger of many viewers and netizens’ ‘gigil.’ After he showed disrespect toward Lola Tindeng (Charo Santos) and his brother Tanggol (Coco Martin), his newest habit is to brag a lot to impress his crush Camille (Yuki Takahashi).

In an attempt to put his proverbial best foot forward, David cloaked parts of his persona and pretended to be somebody he is not, one who is capable of keeping up with Camille’s extravagant lifestyle. When he invited Camille and her ‘barkada’ to eat out and was taunted that he doesn’t even have money to get a ride to school, David thought of ways to save his ego. He took Tanggol’s money.

With enough bills in his wallet, he pushed through with his date with Camille and both their squads and paid for their food. The money he stole from Tanggol was more than enough to shoulder a repeat date. When asked why he’s so generous, David said he simply wants to share his blessings.

He tells exaggerated stories that paint him as a hero. We viewers were satisfied when he got a taste of Tanggol’s wrath. Then, tables turned all over again when David used his bruises and wounds to exalt himself, telling his friends that he got injured from saving an old lady from a group of thieves.

He impressed Camille with his fake courage, strength, and kindness. He even told her that he is Tindeng’s favorite grandson. This guy always wants to be the center of his barkada and Camille’s attention, and we can’t wait for the day when his lies finally get exposed.
