Last week’s (May 6 to May 10) episodes of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo didn’t fall short in stirring the viewers again because of the kilig, heartwarming drama, and comedic scenes that it offered. Read on to revisit some of the highlights and see what Kapamilya netizens had to say.
Since she’s already pregnant, Lena (Mercedes Cabral) decided to submit her resignation to PLTCOL Manuel Suarez (King Gutierrez). But instead of admitting the truth, she told him that it’s because she had realized that being in the police might not be really for her as she already wanted to live a new and peaceful life. Col. Suarez quizzed her if her decision had something to do with Rigor (John Estrada) after his mother-in-law Tindeng (Charo Santos) rushed into the police station and claimed that Rigor is having an illicit affair with her, which she denied. She even bade farewell to Mando (Allan Paule) and Rigor when she collected her stuff.
Lena was then spotted by PLT Mario Samonte (Jorel Ramirez) and PLT Luis Jacobe (Victor Silayan), who teased her regarding her resignation and her relationship with Rigor. But being the palaban that she is, Lena reiterated that it wasn’t true and gave them a vicious clapback that shut them up. After she left, they then turned to Rigor and mocked him as well, which he contradicted.
As Bubbles (Ivana Alawi) went on a lunch date with Pablo (Elijah Canlas), Tanggol couldn’t help but be worried about her safety. He tried to stop her then offered to give accompany her, which she refused since she knew that she could handle it. Pablo brought her to a luxurious restaurant, in which she got really uncomfortable for wearing shabby clothes and appalled that he ordered plenty of food. Thus, he asked her to change into one of the dresses bought by Pablo’s dependable right-hand Ruben (Yce Navarro) for her. They got the chance to know one another a bit more while enjoying their five-course meal. After their date, Pablo further conveyed his interest on Bubbles and even took her back at their home.
After Beng, a.k.a. Olga (Irma Adlawan), informed her that she chanced upon Tanggol at a carinderia, Marites was unexpectedly visited by Tanggol. When asked by Tanggol how their household had been, she refused to tell him about their predicament and simply told him that Santino (Ronwaldo) has been doing fine and working as a janitor at a boxing gym, while his father has been really busy at work. Tanggol, on the other hand, relayed to her that he currently stays at Bubbles’ house and works as a bouncer at a bar in Malate. Marites also took it as an opportunity to apologize to Tanggol for not being able to defend him from Rigor and David (McCoy de Leon) the last time that he went home and to pay him a visit while he was still in jail.
However, when asked by Tanggol if there’s still a possibility for him to go back at their house, Marites wasn’t able to give him an answer and implied that he must leave already in order for him not to be late at work. Thus, he simply expressed his yearning to live with them again under one roof, apologized for all the mistakes he committed, and vowed to visit him more often. Meanwhile, she made him promise to stay away from any trouble now that he’s back in the outside world and to take good care of himself.
On his way back to Bubbles’ house, Tanggol had a quite funny encounter with Roda (Direk Joel Lamangan) who made a scene in Quiapo by calling him a “snatcher.” He aggressively refuted his allegations, especially when he brought up again his assertion that he and his barkada were the ones who robbed his house, and handed money to him off.
Tanggol then spotted Frida (Deo “Diwata” Balbuena) wounded and weeping outside his closed restaurant after three hooligans mugged him the night before. Upon learning that he has nobody or nowhere to go to since he has no family here in Manila, Tanggol invited Frida to go with him at Bubbles’ house for his wounds and bruises to be treated. Bubbles offered to stay at their house in exchange of helping her grandma in doing household chores and in their eatery, which Frida accepted and even promised to teach her how to cook pares.
At the bar, Baste (Niño Muhlach) already advised his employees to start looking for another job since it became a collateral in the high-takes pool match between Tanggol and Pablo the night before. He and his right-hand Obet (Neil Coleta), as well as Emong (Nikko Natividad), once again pinned the blame on him for letting himself lose and putting everyone’s livelihood in danger, to which Tanggol was truly apologetic.
While Ramon (Christopher de Leon) and Don Julio (Tommy Abuel) were able to amicably and easily closed their business deal with Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas), it wasn’t the same case for David, a.k.a. fake Jesus Nazareno, as he had a heated argument with Mr. Tolentino after they disagreed to the price that the former offered to the latter for the drugs that they’re selling. Upon learning from Mr. Tolentino what had happened, Ramon got really upset and reprimanded David for what he had done and for still wanting to go home to his real family in Quiapo.
Meanwhile, many years after his fateful meeting with Don Julio that almost cost him his life, Marcelo (Nonie Buencamino) got to see him again and promised himself to take revenge at him for what he had done.
That night, Marites was approached by their barangay captain regarding their current family affairs and advised her that she can file charges against Rigor since what he’s doing is a violation against women and children with concubinage. He also expressed his concern on her for her since this an insult to her womanhood and can cause further scandal, so she must really think about it.
As best friends Rigor and Mando were chilling at a restaurant, the duo of Samonte and Jacobe chanced upon them and continued mocking him about his illicit affair and even compared him with Tanggol, which resulted in a fisticuff. In the end, he was able to singlehandedly beat them up and proved to them that he can also be a crooked policeman, just like what they wanted to see or get from him.
Pablo once again came to the bar to see Bubbles and spend some time with her, much to the displeasure of Tanggol. When advised by Emong to be good to Pablo since he could possibly be their new employer, Tanggol resolved that he would never be in good terms with him.
