David, stealing Taggol (Coco Martin)’s identity and masquerading as the heir of the Montenegros, found himself in conflict with Pablo, his counterpart from the Caballero clan, when they bumped into each other at their families’ meeting.
David switched his arrogance on, warning Pablo to be careful in choosing whom to clash with. However, Pablo opted not to engage, recognizing there were more pressing matters, like their family’s businesses, than squabbling with someone of little significance, and then simply walked away.
Upon learning of their families’ partnership, Pablo cut David’s speech with sarcastic remarks, saying the latter's promise of preserving their clans’ alliance sounded too good to be true, especially since he only sees David as a nobody.
Of course, David couldn’t ignore what he deemed a disrespectful act from Pablo, sparking a heated confrontation that escalated to both sides pointing their firearms at each other. Pablo tagged David as "hambog," a description which David didn't refute. Instead, David embraced it as a badge of honor, considering his arrogance as a weapon that has made him fearless of anyone.
Pablo was barely able to contain his anger when he was forced to apologize to David, pressured by his grandfather, Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas), to say sorry in front of the Montenegros to protect their ties in the underground business. David felt like he had the upper hand here, believing he scored a point because Pablo was the one who had to 'humble' himself.
Their families intervened to safeguard their connections from being tarnished. This led to a showdown of skills, with David effortlessly besting Pablo in a gun-firing match. With his victory, David felt he owned the right to boast and insult his rival. However, Pablo dismissed David's triumph as mere luck.
The fight between the two heated up after Pablo saw his sister Katherine (Ara Davao) with David on a date. In the succeeding scene, they also clashed verbally when their family urged them to reconcile for the sake of the business. But the truth is, their exchange of compliments was laced with sarcasm.
Pablo's fury was triggered again when he found out that Don Facundo allowed David to court Katherine. Of course, he wanted to protect his sister from his enemy. But David said he didn't need to ask for Pablo's permission, and that's how they got into another round of heated word war.
