Fans of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” are loving the chemistry between Christopher de Leon and Cherry Pie Picache, as their characters, Ramon and Marites, seem to be drawn closer by fate in recent episodes.
In #FPJBQMamili, we saw Ramon’s eagerness to reconcile with Marites and make up for what he did in the past, which resulted in them having a son, Tanggol (Coco Martin). He secretly covered Marites' hospital expenses after she was rushed in due to a stabbing incident.
Ramon also visited Marites in her room. Bringing her flowers, he expressed his deep desire to make amends, knowing how much he had ruined her life. However, Marites pushed him away, fearful that their conversation might spark chaos if anyone—especially her husband, Rigor (John Estrada)—would see them together.
From that dramatic encounter, the suspense heightened when Ramon almost came face-to-face with Rigor, who seemed to recognize him. Luckily, he managed to hide just in time, and Rigor was distracted when a security personnel approached and asked if there was a problem.
In the behind-the-scenes video from the episode, we see the cast carefully rehearsing their blocking and going over their lines to get every detail right. Director Malu Sevilla is there, making sure everything is perfect, guiding them through each step to capture the intensity of the scene. But when the cameras aren’t rolling, the set is filled with light-hearted moments, especially from Cherry Pie, who is known for her infectious laughter.
As for the chemistry between the actors, it doesn’t seem like they need to rehearse that part at all. It likely just comes out naturally because of their real-life rapport and their brilliance sharpened through decades of experience. They always know exactly how to deliver what a scene demands, making their performances feel authentic and compelling.
When asked for her opinion on whether Marites should accept Ramon’s apology, Cherry Pie firmly believes she should. After all, Cherry Pie, in her personal life, has already shown what radical forgiveness truly means. Thus, if she were to step into Marites' shoes, she would choose the path of letting go and moving forward.
“Sa buhay naman ng tao, talagang nagkakamali. And I think everybody deserves a second chance. Sa buhay naman natin, ‘pag may nagawa tayong mali, as you go along, nare-realize mong mali ‘yun tapos gusto mong makabawi. Nagbabago ang tao. Gusto mong itama ‘yung mali na nagawa mo,” Cherry Pie reflected.
However, she clarified that forgiveness doesn't necessarily mean things will go back to how they were. It's more about allowing Ramon the opportunity to redeem himself. “’Yung bigyan lang ng pagkakataon si Ramon na makabawi kina Marites at Tanggol sa kasalanan na nagawa niya, because everybody deserves a chance,” she said.
Christopher, on the other hand, finds the situation quite challenging. However, he suggests that there might be hope if Ramon puts in genuine effort to make amends, especially “alang-alang kay Tanggol.” For Christopher, the key lies in Ramon’s actions toward redemption and showing a sincere willingness to correct his wrongs.
So, Kapamilya, what do you think? Should Marites forgive Ramon?
We’ll have to wait and see where Marites and Ramon’s story leads, and whether their encounters will reveal that Ramon has taken a fake Tanggol into his life. It’s also worth keeping an eye on when Ramon and Rigor will face off again—“’Pag nagkita sila, umaatikabong bakbakan na naman ito,” Christopher teased.
