FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, the nation’s current teleserye obsession, is a show that has a lot to offer including, of course, the slice-of-life visuals in the world of Quiapo. But when its second chapter opened a few months ago, its main character Tanggol (Coco Martin)’s journey took us to a new additional setting – the penitentiary where he and his friends are incarcerated after a series of criminal charges were filed against them.
In the correctional, Tanggol has met different people who add thrill and danger into his life. He got to meet Bubbles (Ivana Alawi), the woman who seems to have fallen in love with him. He also got to encounter the powerful officials who are currently complicating his desire to leave the rogue life behind.
Although he and his ‘tropa’ were away from the outside world, they still met all sorts of dangers inside the prison, forcing them to toughen up more. They got to encounter the original bad boys of correctional, the “Batang Divisoria” gang led by Bong (Vandolph Quizon). These guys are dangerous, so much so they almost killed Tanggol’s friends just because they were scared to be dethroned by them as the officers’ trusted executors.
But behind the cameras, Bong’s squad is pretty much chill and fun. After all, they’re comedians in real life. Check out what their typical day on set looks like by scrolling through these photos.
Aside from Bong, the group is comprised of Fidel (Zeppi Borromeo), Abner (Michael Rivero), Cocoy (Joel “Pambansang Kolokoy” Mondina), and Teron (Darwin Tolentino).
Viewers gushed over Vandolph’s inclusion in the teleserye’s second chapter as they all missed seeing him on TV. Although he plays a harmful and evil character in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, which is a refreshing acting pursuit for him, these BTS photos prove that he hasn’t departed from his comedic zone in real life. He’s still a true-blue funny guy.
We’re curious to know what he and his co-stars were laughing at in this photo!
Of course, their ‘angas’ is only for the show. Ask them to take a selfie while waiting for their next shot and they’ll give you these smiley faces:
But when it’s time to grind, expect them to put their game faces on as they listen to Direk Coco’s instructions, and wear their characters like second skin.
Don’t miss an episode of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, weeknights, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z nd TV5.
