The afternoon soap Bagong Umaga reflects the beauty of true friendship and the joy and comfort it brings. Tisay (Heaven Peralejo), Dodong (Yves Flores), and Angge (Michelle Vito) prove that while life is full of ups and downs, having a squad that will stick to you make problems and heartbreaks easier to overcome.
The trio is an exciting mix of trouble, strength, and wisdom. There’s Tisay – the bright cum laude of the Magbanuas, a budding journalist who’s always for the truth. Therefore, she’s the voice of reason in the group. Angge, on the other hand, is the gang’s troublemaker. While he’s known for his jokes and antics, Dodong has strong and loving qualities in him. He’s quite protective.
Tisay would often scold her brother and best friend for their felonies in a soothing way, especially Angge, who is always caught making trouble. There was a scene where Tisay scolded Angge for joining a bunch of street gamblers and pickpocketing them during a rumble. Although they seem to take things lightly and even poke fun at each other, Angge and Dodong would listen to Tisay.
In times of problems, Dodong and Angge would engage in cute bickering to lighten up the mood until Tisay gives in to their hilarity. Remember that moment when Tisay got sentimental over a slight failure, then Dodong told her she’s good enough and that she’s most likely to be the class president while he will be elected as sergeant at arms and Angge will be in charge of the ‘noisy’ board.
They work as a team and know how to use their individual strengths to create a solid objective. It was displayed when they went undercover to expose the Veradonas’ misdeeds. We are all-smiles over Dodong and Angge’s cute banter about Tisay’s new look.
There’s no competition among them that even lovelife can’t break their friendship. They went through some ‘barkada’ drama as well, with Angge crushing on Ely (Tony Labrusca), who had feelings for Tisay since the beginning; and Dodong having feelings for Cai (Barbie Imperial), who keeps on chasing Ely.
The romantic ‘hugots steeled Dodong and Angge’s bond. They often talked about their love dilemmas but they never took it against Tisay. They decided to just keep their silence and let Tisay and the persons they like be happy about their choices.
When Angge found her match in Otep (Kiko Estrada) and experienced real heartbreak due to his suspicious motives, it was Dodong who gave her much-needed comfort and real talk. Their friendship grew deep that they could feel each other’s pain.
It was easy to assume that the conflict between Tisay and Cai would tear the barkada apart. Angge, of course, would defend her best friend at all cost. It would’ve been more difficult for Dodong, caught up in a clash between his sister and the girl he likes. Yet, he surely knows how to handle such conflict.
In that scene, Dodong made things light through his natural caring ways. He made Tisay smile, saying he was quick to forgive Cai because of Tisay’s example. It was Tisay who taught him how to go easy on other people’s mistakes. After bantering a little with Angge, Dodong hugged the Tisay. Angge joined them as well.
Now that they’re going through another round of tough times due to revelations about their real parents, Tisay, Dodong, and Angge promise to always have each other’s back.
Watch the trio sort through problems as a team in Bagong Umaga, Monday-Friday, after It’s Showtime on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
