Apart from her beauty and intelligence, Tisay (Heaven Peralejo) is adored for her resilience. Whatever obstacle life throws her way, she sure knows how to overcome even the strongest storms. This Kapamilya Toplist from Bagong Umaga is imbued with inspiration and lessons about toughing it out, shown through Tisay’s character and these heartwarming scenes.
For Tisay, nothing is more heartbreaking than falling out with her parents Jose (Keempee de Leon) and Monica (Nikki Valdez) that’s why she broke into tears when they found out about her little misdeed. While Tisay and Dodong (Yves Flores) did not steal the money from a group of bystanders, Jose and Monica are hurt for their kids used something that didn’t belong to them. For the righteous Jose, it was already a felony. And Tisay knew it was wrong, thus the apology. She was reminded that a wrongful action, however small it seems, will only taint their honor and integrity no matter how noble the intention is. And for a budding journalist like her, breaking her morals will only jeopardize her dreams.
There are times when Tisay’s tough choices overwhelm her parents, leading to misunderstanding. But, one thing we admire about the Magbanuas is the soft-heartedness that gives room for error. They easily forgive each other and Tisay lived through her parents’ example. In the second scene, Tisay had a conversation with Monica about her life decisions. She was reminded of her parents’ support. Monica also apologized for their misunderstanding and promised that no amount of mistakes can lessen their love for her.
The breakdown season in Tisay’s life took off from a shooting incident that almost paralyzed Monica, who caught the bullet for her. She was devastated and guilty, blaming herself for her mother’s condition. She wanted to take over Monica’s place. This scene started with Monica lashing out at Tisay for trying to investigate the incident. But, it ended in a moving conversation about sacrifice and love.
The series of conflict affected her relationship with Jose and Monica, who then were eager to get to know their biological daughter, Cai (Barbie Imperial). While it spelled trouble, Tisay gave in to her foster parents’ wish. She let Cai move in with them.
Tisay felt like her life was in a downward spiral. She faced humiliation after her fake indecent photo went viral online. They would later on discover that it was all Cai’s idea, thus she was caught up between love and wrath. She loves Jose and Monica but she won’t let Cai off the hook.
It was followed by Diana (Glydel Mercado)’s acquittal. Tisay felt crushed and defeated all over again. She wondered why life can’t let her win. Her family and relationship with Ely (Tony Labrusca) have been scarred by Diana’s selfish actions yet she couldn’t do anything to repair the broken parts. It was the first time she found strength and comfort in her biological parents, Maggie (Sunshine Cruz) and Ian (Cris Villanueva).
Tisay’s greatest heartbreak, so far, is falling out with Jose when she insisted that Cai connived with Diana for a scheme that killed Gab (Ali Abinal) and sent Ian behind bars. She was hurt that Jose took Cai’s side. Tisay felt alone, as though she doesn’t belong in that home anymore because Cai managed to take over. The family she loves no longer believes her.
Although it hurts to leave the Magbanua abode, Tisay knew she needed to make a decision, forcing her to move in with the Veradonas.
Tisay continues to fight for her breakthrough. Don’t miss an episode of Bagong Umaga, airing Monday to Friday, after It’s Showtime on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
