Tony Labrusca’s epic rise from being a commercial model to becoming a bankable heartthrob

He may have been in the industry for four years, but Tony Labrusca has undeniably grown to become one of the most bankable young stars of this generation. And this year, he’s poised to amaze us anew with another sure-fire portrayal in the upcoming coming-of-age series Bagong Umaga.

And while we’re looking forward to it, let’s take a look back first on his remarkable teleserye stints in the previous years in this episode of Kapamilya Toplist!

We had an initial glimpse of his handsomeness in television advertisements, with his appearance as the heartbreak guy in the series of commercials of a famous fast-food chain alongside Elisse Joson, being the most popular.

He then went on to audition for Pinoy Boyband Superstar, wherein he’s able to capture a lot of hearts not just with his captivating visuals, but with his impressive singing talent as well as he performed his rendition of Lifehouse’s “You And Me”. He also had the chance to share the stage with his mom, singer Angel Jones, and his estranged biological dad, actor Boom Labrusca.

Tony may have fallen short in his bid to become one of the five members BoybandPH, but he’s still a winner as a slew of acting projects were bestowed to him after the competition.

His first acting project in the Kapamilya network was the fantasy-drama series La Luna Sangre, wherein he impressed us as Jake Arguelles, the third wheel to KathNiel’s Malia and Tristan.

It was succeeded by a mature role in the 2019 series Sino Ang Maysala? Mea Culpa, as he played Drei Montelibano, a lawyer-turned-politician and a loving husband who agreed with his wife Juris’ (Bela Padilla) decision to adopt and hide the child they found during the fateful incident they encountered in one of their barkaada trip in Baguio City.

On that same year, he also got to impart his acting prowess in the “Saltik” episode of the weekly drama anthology Ipaglaban Mo, riveting us with his depiction of an obsessed admirer named Jerome.

Early this year, the 25-year-old actor had a special appearance in the weekly series 24/7 as the adult Xavier Agbayani, the beloved son of Julia Montes’ character Mia Agbayani. However, we weren’t able to find out if he’s going to appear there often as filming of the program is currently postponed due to the pandemic.

Aside from these television series, Tony also astounded us with his stints in the iWant Originals contents “Glorious” (2018), “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank 3: The Real Untold Story of Josephine Bracken” (2019), ”I Am U” (2020), and “Love Lockdown” (2020). He recently thrilled us with his unexpected team-up with JC Alcantara in the first-ever Black Sheep digital series Hello, Stranger.

Do not miss the pilot episode Bagong Umaga on October 26 on Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live.
