Comparing celebrities with their one another, especially their relatives who are also in the industry, is a common norm in show business. It’s absolutely vexing, but they just shrug this “rivalry” off made up by onlookers and prove that they are actually proud and happy for each other’s achievements.
Take for example the equally beautiful and ever-youthful Hermosa sisters, Kathleen and Kristine, who are able to show those who try to pit them against each other that they may have treaded on the same path, but they are still two different individuals living different lives and at their own pace.
Those who are able to follow their lives on-and-off-cam ever since their showbiz careers started decades ago have probably heard the story that it was actually Kathleen who’s really keen to become an actress, but it was her younger sister Kristine, who she only asked to accompany her in her audition for Star Circle, who made it to industry first. While that could be initially heartbreaking on her part, but it seemed that Kathleen didn’t hold any grudge about it as she poured her all-out support to Kristine, as what they revealed in a media interview many years ago.
Kristine went on to star in a slew of TV programs and movies and become of the biggest and brightest of her generation. Since her remarkable breakthrough as Yna Macaspac in the classic soap opera Pangako Sa ‘Yo, she has been hailed as one of our country’s superstars and continues to thrill her fans when she had her much-awaited teleserye comeback in the 2018 primetime series Bagani as the deity Malaya. It came several years after she stepped out of the limelight to focus on her growing family with husband Oyo Sotto.
On the other hand, her Ate Kathleen has been very active with strings of supporting stints in Kapamilya teleseryes in the past years, such as Honesto (2013), Nathaniel (2015), Doble Kara (2017), My Dear Heart (2017), The Good Son (2017), Starla (2019), and a couple of appearances in the romance series Precious Hearts Romances Presents and the weekly drama anthology Ipaglaban Mo.
