The military intensifies the war against a still unidentified terror group who initiated a bombing attack. They look for an IT expert who could help them track the rebels’ activities. They find someone apt to do the task. He is none other than Alex (Gerald Anderson), an IT expert and an adopted son of a military officer, Dante (Rommel Padilla).
Dante is not pleased upon learning that Alex volunteered to join the military mission. He scolds his son and insists to take the name of the officer who Alex negotiated with.
Minda (Mickey Ferriols) urges Dante to just let Alex do the work. Shfathere mentions that Alex has long been wishing to join the armed forces but Dante didn’t allow him to when they found out that their biological son, Elmer (Vin Abrenica) is joining the military as well.
Dante claims that he is only trying to protect Alex. However, Minda asserts that withholding Alex’s dreams and protecting him are not the same thing.
A flashback shows Dante coming home from a mission in Misamis Oriental. With him is the young Hakeem whose father (Lito Pimentel), a rebel group leader, died in a skirmish against the authorities. Unknown to Dante, Alex’s mother and older sibling managed to escape from the attack. Dante decided to take in Hakeem and name him Alex. Minda finds Elmer watching in silence and displays affection towards him, so not to hurt the boy’s ego.
Dante changes his mind and grants Alex the permission to go to Butuan City.
