The Scout Ranger Training officially begins. While on the way to the camp, Alex (Gerald Anderson)’s bunch talk about the tests awaiting them, others like Michael (Nash Aguas) and Phil (Jerome Ponce) even display confidence. But as soon as the drills start, they all realize that the coming days would be far from easy. They are fed with a spoonful of red chilli and ordered to lick a statue. The fearless men vomit out of disgust and gastric pain combined.
Dinner meal, contained inside a small plastic bag, is devoured for not more than ten seconds. They carry a 20-kilo backpack while going on a run under the scorching heat of the noontime sun. Michael starts to feel feverish but he insists to continue despite Alex and Abe (Carlo Aquino)’s advice, not wanting to appear as a weakling.
Michael and Phil sneak out at night to get food from a small store near the camp. Michael requests for medicine as well and then decides to stay for a bit; while Phil goes back to the tent area. Alex scolds Phil for leaving Michael all by himself, saying soldiers never leave others behind. Alex starts to worry for Michael who, unknown to them, has already passed out while on his way back to the camp. A commander passes by and rushed Michael to the hospital. After the doctor’s assessment, Michael is declared unfit for the trainings due to a gastric ulcer.
The night is getting longer as Alex’s group wait for Michael until he finally arrives to deliver the bad news about being sent back to the base. Everyone sympathizes with him except Phil whose main concern is whether Michael sold them out to the commanding officers. Alex confronts Phil for his selfishness. Michael puts the argument to a stop, saying he’s not blaming anyone for his fate and that he didn’t disclose anything to the superiors.
