Love is a battlefield. So, who better to help you strategize than someone with A Soldier’s Heart? Sue Ramirez, Vin Abrenica, Carlo Aquino, Yves Flores and Nash Aguas shared the lessons they learned about love to help you survive your current or next relationship!
How to start a relationship
Vin wants to remind everyone that loving yourself is always step one, “If you don’t love yourself, paano ka magmamahal ng iba?” Even in a relationship, there should still be some individuality. So, respect your each other’s time, especially when they are trying to reach a personal goal. “Kailangan intindihin mo na may mga ibang bagay pa syang gustong gawin para sa sarili nya,” Sue added. The key is finding a balance through clear communications. For Carlo, this is the best way to understand your partner, particularly men who are not expressive.
How to avoid a lovers’ quarrel
Arguments and misunderstandings are normal. But before you get into a fight, Sue recommends pausing to think. “Think before you speak kasi minsan ‘yung mga salitang sinasabi, na binibitawan natin, hindi na natin ‘yan mababawi kahit kailan,” she warned. Vin’s advice is to listen and learn from your mistakes. When your partner calls you out, do not get offended. Do not be narcissistic. Learn to change for the better.
How to make it last forever?
There will come a time when the honeymoon stage is over. It would feel like the spark is gone. But do not worry because this is normal. Nash has the perfect solution to this problem, “as long as pinipili mo ‘yung isang tao every day and pinipili mo na siya ‘yung gusto mo makasama, magwo-work ang relationship.” Also, it does not hurt to have faith in your partner as well as in God. “Lagi n’yong ilagay sa center si God sa relationship n’yo,” Yves suggested.
