For sure, his fans have a favorite character out of all his portrayals. But which one does Jerome consider as his personal best? Here are his top picks!
Maalaala Mo Kaya: Pintura
For this episode of the weekend anthology series, his role was secretly gay. This meant he had to control his actions depending on the scenes. Sometimes he had to act more manly, while others he had to be more feminine. “Parang dapat hindi ako masyadong baklang bakla kasi tago ako noon sa lolo ko,” he recalled. The actor also gave credit to his friends who helped him successfully represent the persona.
The Good Son
Who could forget this primetime drama that ran from 2017 to 2018? Despite the serious and sensitive topics tackled by the teleserye, their cast proved to be more than capable of effortlessly telling this emotional story. There may have been intense confrontations in front of the camera, but behind the scenes they felt like a real family.
“Napiga ako,” he shared his experience from this 2019 movie. It was like he had to concentrate on a whole new level. Every scene was carefully shot and executed. “Binigay ko ‘yung best of the best ko,” he stated. This was also his second time working with Jane Oineza after the 2015 teleserye Nasaan ka nang Kailangan Kita.
Be Careful with my Heart
At the end of the day, however, this show is the one that holds the title of most unforgettable. This was his first ever project. Back then, he had no idea how television shows worked or what internalization was. Jerome was the definition of a raw actor, but his performance was still well received. “Natuwa naman ako dahil, alam mo ‘yun, natutuwa ‘yung mga tao doon sa character ko,” he explained. “Wala naman ako dito kung wala ‘yung Be Careful with my Heart,” he ended.
