Our weeknight primetime viewing has arguably been more action-packed and rousing with the arrival of the action-drama series A Soldier’s Heart a month ago.
As we fervently follow the journey of the valiant characters in their pursuit of protecting and defending their countrymen from the enemies and of attaining the peace we have been yearning for, we didn’t only find ourselves thrilled but kilig, as well, in every episode because of the brewing romances among some of its characters. And one of the pairs we’re currently hooked with is that of Nash Aguas and Charlie Dizon, who play Private Michael Mendoza and Isabelle Gezali respectively.
From being hostile towards the rookie combatant in their initial encounters, we’ve witnessed how the governor’s daughter eventually became nice towards him and gave in to his charms, which ensued to their young, beautiful friendship and affair later on.
It can be recalled that their paths first crossed when Michael impeded the car she and her governor dad Amer Gezali (Richard Quan) were on for checkpoint purposes. He seemed to get attracted with her at first sight as he winked at her afterwards. However, the feeling was apparently not mutual for Isabelle as she rolled her eyes at him instead.
Their second meeting was comparably fierier as she refused for the car she’s driving to be checked by him. Instead of heeding to his request, she raised her brow at him and irately asked for his name and mobile number from one of the officers upon uttering the “maganda pero matigas ang ulo” remark.
But there was a sudden wind of change as Isabel became cordial towards her and profusely thanked him after he and his comrades came to her and her dad’s rescue after notorious terrorist Abdul Waajid (Sid Lucero) and his group attempted to kidnap them. Michael even patiently stayed by her side when she was rushed to the hospital.
And as a way of showing her gratitude, Isabelle surprised him by coming to the military camp unannounced to invite him to lunch out with her. The young soldier initially declined it, saying that there’s no need for her to do it since it’s a part of their job, until the command of accompanying her came directly from the ever-supportive 1st Lieutenant Jethro Mondejar (Elmo Magalona). Their dine-out went pretty fine as it weren’t only their tummies that were filled, but their hearts, too, as Michael made Isabelle laugh with his corny yet witty knock-knock jokes.
There was also this instance when the two obviously found it difficult to hide their kilig as they couldn’t take their eyes off of each other, and they even exchanged smiles, as Michael and his mates were leaving her office.
Among the moments they shared together, it’s probably that time when Isabelle got jealous with the sight of him holding the hand of woman he was assisting as she alighted from the military truck they were both on. She apologized to Michael for that immature reaction on their next meeting, wherein she also finally bestowed her sweet “oo” to him as her answer to his longtime question.
Even though they definitely look good together and the people around them are delighted of their affair, her father is not actually happy about it as he highly objects their relationship mainly because of their difference in religion and being too young.
Will Michael and Isabelle’s romance continue despite her father’s objection? Well, that’s for us to find out so you better not miss an episode of A Soldier’s Heart, weeknights on Primetime Bida.
