Yves Flores, Royce Cabrera bare new discoveries about themselves this pandemic

As we witness their admirable bond as 2nd Lieutenant Benjie Arguelles and Private Andy Alfonso in the well-loved Kapamilya series A Soldier’s Heart, we were able to see the same when Yves Flores and Royce Cabrera recently graced ABS-CBN Entertainment’s Kapamilya Confessions.

They may have to do it virtually and from the comforts of their respective abodes, since we’re still in the midst of community quarantine, yet they were still able to show how tightly bonded they are even they’re outside the set.

Their stint on the online show commenced with them enthusiastically taking on the First and Last Challenge, wherein they divulged their first-ever teleserye acting, first person who broke their heart, first embarrassing moment, first thing they look at a person, last Instagram post, last time they said ‘I love you’, last time they cried, last thing/person they’re thinking, and the last message they sent.

Royce and Yves then went on to answer the questions sent in by netizens, heeded to the requests for shout-outs and read the comments of some live viewers.

When asked regarding the lines or scenes they would never forget from A Soldier’s Heart, Yves imparted that it would be that moment when his character Benjie uttered ‘Tatanggapin ko na ‘di mo ako gusto, pero ‘di ako papayag na saktan mo ako’. For Royce, on the other hand, it would be his character Andy and Benjie’s confrontation scene with Jerome Ponce’s Pvt. Phil Panganiban.

The two also revealed who among their co-actors they would want to switch roles with if given the chance. For Yves, it’s going to be Carlo Aquino’s Pvt. Abe Kamlun as he yearns to represent our Muslim brothers and noted how balanced it is, while it’s Nash Aguas’ Pvt. Michael Mendoza as he admires how he gives cheer to their troop.

They also revealed their experience in handling ammunitions also used by soldiers and the acting pointers they acquired from their veteran co-actors, as well as discussed how they observe health and safety precautions on the set as they filmed under new normal condition.

“Thank you, Benjie, kasi naging inspirasyon ka sa maraming tao. Nakita ko sa Instagram messages ko, sa mga message requests ko na maraming nagpapasalamat dahil parang na-inspire sila na ilabas ang tunay na nararamdaman nila, ‘yong tunay na nasa loob nila dahil ‘yong iba parang bata pa lang tinatago na kung ano talaga sila sa magulang nila. Natatakot sila kung tatanggapin ba sila ng tao o hindi,” Yves said.

Meanwhile, Royce told his character “Solid ka!” and regarded how Andy knows the love and support needed by everyone in their squad, especially to his closest buddy Benjie.

A netizen also asked Yves if he already knew how the story of his character would flow right from the very moment it was offered to him, to which he responded that it was actually Benjie’s character he personally picked. And when it comes to what he liked the most about the bond of Phil and Benjie, it would be how they genuinely accepted one another.

They also imparted their new discoveries about themselves during this pandemic and the things they are still thankful for despite everything that’s happening in the world.
