From delighting us with her roles in Bagani and Parasite Island, fast-rising actress Charlie Dizon is now charming us with her portrayal as Isabel Gezali in the primetime action drama A Soldier’s Heart.

Since it was only in 2018 when she was officially introduced as part of the Star Magic family, for sure, only a few is known about this promising newcomer. Thus, we delved into the depths of the worldwide web and did a little stalking on her Instagram account in order to get to know her even more.
She started out as a commercial model
Those who have been glued on their television screens would surely find her familiar for she has already starred in a number of advertisements, such as for a brand of chocolate biscuit, cup noodles, telecom company, feminine wash, pineapple juice drink, and haircare.
In her exclusive interview with Star Magic that was uploaded in the talent arm’s official YouTube Channel, the 23-year-old actress revealed that she used to juggle her job as a full-time commercial model and attending in workshops for several years before finally being signed as one of the artists of Star Magic Batch 2018.
However, prior to the said launch, she already scored her acting debut via the 2017 John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo-starrer “Finally Found Someone” where she was credited as April Matienzo – her real name. Then it was succeeded by her stints in MayWard’s “Loving In Tandem,” and in the comedy drama film “Seven Sundays.”
According to Magandang Buhay host Melai Cantiveros, it was actually ABS-CBN Chief Content Officer Charo Santos-Concio who bestowed her the screenname “Charlie Dizon”.
She almost became the first-ever Pinay K-Pop idol
Unbeknownst to many of us, Charlie can only not impress us with her impressive acting chops, but with her singing and dancing prowess as well! In fact, she almost became the first-ever Filipino Korean pop idol.
In her guesting in Magandang Buhay in 2018, she recalled joining K-pop-related competitions during her college years after one of her friends introduced her to the culture. She was the bestowed the opportunity to train for a K-pop girl group before after being chosen to be the sole representative of the Philippines. However, due to the problems they encountered in her papers, she failed to push through.

Because of her being a fan and of that experience, she has gained other skills – speaking and singing in Korean language.
Well, there’s no reason for her to pout nor frown anymore now that her showbiz career here in country is slowly taking off and all her efforts through the years are beginning to pay off.
She looks up to Toni Gonzaga and Bea Alonzo
Of course, everyone of us, regardless if you’re in the industry or not, has our idols or people we look up to when it comes to the talent and passion they exude in a certain craft. And for Charlie, she revealed in the Star Magic interview that it would be Toni Gonzaga and Bea Alonzo. But it’s more of Toni for her since they almost brandish similar personalities. Coincidentally, these versatile seasoned actresses had already worked with her top celebrity crushes John Lloyd Cruz and Richard Gutierrez.
