Juliana “Ana” Dimasalang (Julia Montes) truly inspired us all with her courage, strength and determination in overcoming hardships and ordeals—especially in her admirable fight for justice.
With the gripping drama Asintado drawing to a close this week, let’s take a look back at everything she went through before attaining the justice she so deserved.
Doing The Right Thing
Ana has the character of integrity. Since the beginning, we witnessed how she fights for what is right, no matter how small or big it is. So when she heard Gael’s (Paulo Avelino) mother Miranda Ojeda (Lorna Tolentino) and Salvador Del Mundo (Nonie Buencamino) planning to get Senator Martin Reynoso (Teroy Guzman) killed, she didn’t stay silent. She acted on doing the right thing, even though she already knew this would put her in danger.
Resurrecting from Death
Like what Salvador does to everyone who gets in his way, he ordered his men to kill Ana. Fortunately, Celeste Ramos (Cherrie Pie Picache) and her team saved her before it was too late. It took months for her whole body to recover, and another couple of months before she can be fully healed. When she finally recovered physically, mentally and emotionally, Ana then stood up to continue her fight. This time, it was not just for other people but more importantly for her father Vicente Dimasalang (Lito Pimentel), who gave up his life for her.
Living as Stella Dela Torre-Guerrero
For her to carefully and surely achieve the justice she yearns for, Ana needed to hide in the identity of Xander Guerrero’s (Aljur Abrenica) deceased wife Stella. She introduced herself to everyone as Stella in order to get close to Salvador once again. Through this, she had been able to investigate his wrongdoings and fish out evidence against him.
Exposing Salvador Del Mundo
Ana can’t live a double life forever so when the time was right, she revealed her true identity. With strong evidence at hand, Ana bravely fought Salvador publicly, and presented her case against him before the courts.
Just when Ana thought she lost hope in achieving justice she fought hard for, circumstances led Salvador’s erstwhile ally Miranda (Lorna Tolentino) to help her. Miranda chose to abandon Salvador in order to protect Ana, who bears her grandchild, even at the expense of her own life. With Miranda’s help, Ana gathered solid evidence against Salvador to finally put him behind bars.
