It’s truly exasperating how some influential and affluent people, such as politicians, bigtime businessmen, and other persons of authority, tend to use their power and money just to achieve personal gains.
Just like the egocentric, cunning, greedy, and ruthless antagonist who arguably makes us feel consistently agitated with his wicked schemes and misdeeds in the afternoon soap opera Asintado – Salvador del Mundo, compellingly portrayed by accomplished actor Nonie Buencamino.
He is absolutely an epitome of the stereotypical politician who always yearns for greater power and heftier sums of money to suffice his selfish pursuits, so he got himself involved in illegal activities like smuggling of guns.
Whenever there are people who would hinder or there are problems that would arise along the completion of his illicit schemes, he and his ever-trusted accomplice and paramour Miranda Ojeda (Lorna Tolentino) are going to solve the glitches by exterminating the root cause of it. By ‘exterminating’ we mean killing those who would get in his way, such as his stiff nemesis Ana (Julia Montes), without minding if that measure would aggravate or cost the lives of their loved-ones, which actually happened to their lovechild Gael (Paulo Avelino) and their newly-born grandchild.
But if the situation is still bearable, Salvador would rely on the power of brainwashing and his dramatic flair, to which his adoptive daughter Samantha (Shaina Magdayao) and his sympathizers fall the victim most of the time, just to pursue his evil plans and get himself out of trouble and danger.
While we thought that he was just naturally cold-blooded, one of his intense encounters with his estranged wife Hillary (Agot Isidro) revealed that the cruel experiences in the past fueled him to become what he is now. According to him, he used to be underestimated and oppressed that’s why he persevered to prove himself and doesn’t want whatever power and wealth he has now to be taken away from him.
Although it’s understandable, yet it’s still not right to jeopardize someone’s life or to step on other people just to claim your way to ultimate success.
As we bid farewell to Salvador, let’s take a look back on the nerve-wracking measures he can do just to stay influential and rich in this Kapamilya Toplist. Is he going to be successful in the end? Find out by watching the “Tagos sa Pusong Finale” of Asintado, after It’s Showtime on Kapamilya Gold.
