Without any doubt, Shaina Magdayao shows in each teleserye she headlined that stunning, exceptional flair in acting.
She takes on each role with such intensity and sincerity that viewers feel for her and identify with what she goes through on screen.
From the time we first saw her as a prodigious 11-year-old taking the lead role in her first Kapamilya teleserye Marinella with fellow child stars Camille Prats and Serena Dalrymple, we knew she was meant to reach stellar heights in the industry, not just because being Vina Morales’s kid sister would give her any leverage.
Shaina was an extraordinary talent on her own, as she landed more gripping roles in drama anthologies, youth-oriented series, and teleseryes, including Maalaala Mo Kaya, Your Song, Love Spell, K2BU, and significant portrayals in the primetime teleseryes Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hangaan and Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay.
What even made her shine more was her riveting portrayals in films such as Tanging Yaman, in which she first received a string of Best Child Actress awards.
This paved the way for more opportunities to get challenging roles in teleseryes that made her further improve her craft. She then appeared in several major Kapamilya primetime dramas such as Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin, Rounin, Komiks Presents Agua Bendita, Lobo, Kambal Sa Uma, May Bukas Pa, and Rubi.
In 2010, Shaina scored her breakthrough outing with her first solo lead role in Precious Hearts Romances Presents Alyna, a top-rating afternoon series that further solidified her stature as a leading drama actress. A subsequent role in the OFW-themed drama Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo made Shaina more impressive.
Since then, Shaina became a regular Primetime Bida fixture with roles in such blockbuster teleseryes as 100 Days to Heaven, Juan dela Cruz, Nathaniel, and The Story of Us.
But having been most praiseworthy in her Kapamilya GOLD programs, Shaina could not be denied her afternoon slot.
In 2017, Shaina again made waves as the lead actress in The Better Half, wherein the complicated and grueling love tempest between the main characters further highlighted her natural, deeply felt depiction that drew much acclaim.
At the start of the New Year, we will again witness Shaina’s impeccable talent in a rare portrayal of a fierce antagonist in Asintado with Julia Montes, Paulo Avelino, and Aljur Abrenica, premiering on Monday, January 15 after It’s Showtime.
