To what extent are you willing to sacrifice in order to fight for your one true love?
This might possibly be one of the hardest questions asked of us since we don’t know how we are going to react when a difficult circumstance would come that would really test the strength of our ties with our special someone.
While this remains a tricky question for some, the movies and teleseryes we have watched through the years have given us a plethora of answers that made us ponder if we really can do those in real life.
And one of the strongest and idyllic fictional love stories we have ever witnessed is that of Dao Ming Si and Shan Cai of Meteor Garden, portrayed by young hotshots Dylan Wang and Shen Yue in the Chinese adaptation currently aired on ABS-CBN.
Those who have seen the previous versions of this well-loved and popular Asianovela are indeed aware of the teething troubles the main characters had to endure and hurdle just to protect and keep their relationship.
Now that the series we’ve devotedly watched in the past months is coming to an end, let’s reminisce the instances when they fought for their love through this Friday 5 video feature.
Mortal enemies turned cute lovers
Unlike other lovers who started out as friends, Dao Ming Si and Shan Cai used to be mortal enemies. From the moment he accidentally stepped on her phone, he became her most hated person in the whole world. Instead of apologizing, he even intensified her wrath against him as not a day passed by without him bullying her and her unabashedly confronting him.
Amidst their incessant bickerings, irreconcilable differences, and equally-strong personalities, everything between them gradually changed and they turned out to become one of the cutest couples we would ever know.
Everything were going well between them, until his domineering mom Dao Ming Feng interfered and used her power to tear them apart, such as threatening her, her family, and her friends’ families that she would make their lives extremely miserable if they continue their romance.
Thus, to keep them away from further trouble, Shan Cai broke up with Dao Ming Si and pushed him away a number of times. She told him to obey his mom’s order for him to marry the young heiress He Yuan Zi (Sun Qian) to save their business and even returned to him the precious meteor necklace that he gave as a sign of their love.
They indeed had a “cool off”, but as long as they distanced themselves from and suppressed their feelings for each other, their hearts’ yearning for one another just got stronger. They realized that love would be their mightiest weapon in this battle.
However, the couple’s stubbornness only fueled Madam Feng’s anger, forcing Dao Ming Si to go to London to keep the love of his life away from imminent harm. Shan Cai followed him, but he only pushed her away and told her how he completely regretted meeting and loving her. In spite of this, they still reconciled.
True love prevails
The Dao Ming matriarch discovered it, so she forbade him from seeing her. This triggered him to go on a ‘hunger strike’ as a way of protesting to his mom’s inconsideration and selfish decisions and just stayed at his room day in and day out. His body was slowly giving up, until he heard the soothing voice of Shan Cai who encouraged him to still fight and reminded him of every sweet thing he told her before that brought him back to life.
With the help and support of their friends and Dao Ming Si’s older sister Dao Ming Zhuang, they’re able to prove to Madam Feng that their break up and a fixed marriage were not the solutions to their family business’ crisis – but the bright ideas and the different energy that he could contribute. They are now happily married, giving us a #UnF4gettableEnding that will be etched in our hearts and minds F4ever!
