Throughout his successful 20 years in the entertainment industry, ultimate Korean heartthrob Lee Dong-wook has never failed to thrill and swoon us with his appearances in various media platforms, most especially in K-dramas.
Not many of us probably know that he started out as a model and won the grand prize in the V-NESS Model Contest in 1999, wherein he got discovered. This became his ticket in showbiz as he made his acting debut on that same year via the television series School 2.
However, it’s in the 2005 phenomenal romantic-comedy series My Girl that catapulted him into becoming a Hallyu wave star alongside co-stars Lee Dae-hee and Lee Joon-gi as it tremendously became a hit across Asia, including the Philippines as it was shown in ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida.
He then starred in a slew of dramas after My Girl, in which some of those were aired on Kapamilya network and its affiliate Asianovela Channel. These include Scent of a Woman (or also known by its alternative title Helena’s Promise, 2011), Blade Man (2014), Bubble Gum (2015), Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (or more popularly known as Goblin, 2016), and Touch Your Heart (2019).
Aside from being a versatile actor, Lee Dong-wook is also known as a brilliant program host for he has been tapped to be the face of various TV and radio shows and events as well.
With his unmistakable handsomeness, youthful glow, and captivating charm, it’s definitely hard to believe that the well-loved oppa is already 38 years old! Arguably, he could still pass as someone in his twenties and keep pace with much younger and up-and-rising actors, right? He might be perceived as intimidating and indifferent because of the icy persona he usually brandishes because of the roles he portrays, but he’s actually sweet and silly off-cam. In an article published in the Korean news site Soompi, he’s also described as friendly, particularly as a host, and as “a warm, sincere mentor” to the trainees of the talent reality program Produce X 101.
We know you’re already miss seeing him, so here’s some of Lee Dong Wook breath-taking and heart-fluttering snaps that we grabbed from his Instagram account, which currently showcases 675 posts and has raked in more than 6.6 million as of this writing, and collated in this gallery!
