After Lee Dong Wook, another Grim Reaper is about to take our hearts and souls away as Korea’s ultimate heartthrob Song Seung Heon will play as Detective Marlon Han, whose body was possessed by Black (a.k.a. Grim Reaper #444), in ABS-CBN’s newest Asianovela offering Black.
KDrama avid aficionados surely witnessed how he transformed from a quixotic, dapper leading man to a dashing, tough guy throughout his 21-year showbiz career.
In his early years, he was known for portraying romantic and gentle lead characters in various melodramas, such as the phenomenal Autumn in My Heart (2000). This catapulted him to ultimate stardom and hailed him as one of the pioneers of Hallyu wave.
After his immensely controversial military enlistment from 2004 to 2006, he started to take on more mature roles in series and movies, such as East of Eden (2008) and When A Man Falls In Love (which was broadcast in ABS-CBN in 2013).
The 41-year-old actor’s fame wasn’t only exclusive in South Korea, but in Pan-Asia as well, particularly in Japan and China. Affirming to it was the strings of flicks he did alongside the big names in the aforementioned countries, such as the 2002 Hong Kong action film So Close that was shown on the Kapamilya channel a number of times. He will also join renowned Hollywood actor Bruce Willis in the upcoming World War II film titled The Bombing.
However, he took a break from intense and mature roles in 2011 when he starred in the romantic comedy series My Princess opposite Kim Tae Hee, as a reluctant tutor. It also spread “kilig” vibes to Kapamilyas on that same year.
Will Seung Heon as Marlon be a boon or a bane to Go Ara’s Sarah Kang? Let’s find out as Black premieres on January 8 on Primetime Bida, after The Good Son.
