A day before Valentine’s truly has never been filled with so much love with endearing romantic anthems through the years performed in world-class flair on the “ASAP Heart You” episode of ASAP Natin ‘To on February 13.
But before those emphatic love tunes take center stage, the show started with a grand tribute to legend Whitney Houston, with the ASAP main performers singing her upbeat tunes through the years. Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano first grooved to the beat of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” with ASAP Queen of the Dancefloor Kim Chiu heating up the stage.
King of OPM Ogie Alcasid then got down with Janine Berdin and Lara Maigue with “Step by Step” before Francine Diaz, Krystal Brimner, Karina Bautista took over the dance reigns. Asia’s Pop Heartthrob Darren Espanto then took the stage with Sheena Belarmino and Jeremy Glinoga with their rendition of “Love is a Contact Sport.”
Kim then performed “How Will I Know?” together with Janine Gutierrez before Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla and Kyle Echarri brought the house down with “Higher Love” as Jameson Blake, Jeremy G, and Jin Macapagal showed off their moves. Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan then took over with the Prince of Pop Erik Santos in singing “Love Will Save The Day,” further featuring Kim Chiu’s killer grooves.
Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and Gigi de Lana capped off the opening number with their soaring take of that Whitney Houston dance classic “So Emotional.”
To start the “Feb-ibig” feels, the New Gen Birit duets featured those stirring love collabs of local icons with world pop idols through the years. Lara Maigue and Reiven Umali began the heartwarming set with Lea Salonga and Brad Kane’s “We Could Be In Love.” Alexa Ilacad and Anthony Castillo then sang the popular duet “Wish” originally sung by Donna Cruz and Jason Everly. Janine Berdin and Sam Mangubat then performed the memorable Sharon Cuneta-David Pomeranz duet “If You Walked Away.” To conclude the set of unforgettable romantic duets, Sheena Belarmino and JM Yosures rendered the Regine Velasquez-Paul Anka classic “It’s Hard to Say Goodbye.”
Further ramping up the celebration for the season of hearts, Ogie and The Juans performed the popular OPM band’s hit love song “Anghel.”
After Yeng Constantino sang her widely talked about ditty “Chinito,” a collection of top Pinoy hip-hop tunes were performed by ASAP Natin ‘To superb artists. Kim Chiu first gyrated and grooved to the Jamelia song “Superstar,” as Francine, Krystal, and Karina incinerated the dance floor with their killer moves.
Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10 Celebrity edition housemates Anji Salvacion and Alexa Ilacad then performed the AC Bonifacio breakthrough dance hit “Fool No Mo!” before KZ Tandingan sang her original song “Marupok” with Jameson and Jin showed off their cool grooves.
Kyle, Jeremy G, and Jason Dy then took the spotlight with their impressive take on Shehyee’s “Sa Malamig.” Klarisse de Guzman and Sheena Belarmino then revved up the set with their own interpretation of Donnalyn Bartolome’s “O.M.O. (On My Own)”.
Darren Espanto then made a stirring performance of Skusta Clee’s “Karma” before Janine Berdin, Gigi de Lana, and Fana ended the Pinoy hip-hop binge with SB19’s “What?”
For the world-class gathering of OPM icons on The Greatest Showdown, a collection of classic love songs that warmed our hearts through the years were showcased. Gary V first performed the Atlantic Starr classic “Always” with Klarisse. Darren and KZ then stepped up the romantic vibe with Cher and Peter Cetera’s “After All.” Zsa Zsa and Jed Madela then enlivened hearts with their take of Lani Hall and Herb Alpert’s “Come What May” before Ogie and Jona were in perfect harmony for Christopher Cross and France Rupelle’s “I Will (Take You Forever).” Regine and Erik capped the classic love songs hitback with a stirring rendition of Barbara Streisand and Don Johnson’s “Till I Loved You.”
