Throughout her stellar, unprecedented showbiz career, we’ve already seen the different facets of the one and only Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid through the different projects she had and her interviews, including home tours. However, in those home tours, she and her family refused to expose the second level of their abode, particularly their walk-in closet.
As a self-confessed fan herself, she knew how her followers are pining to take a peek of her wardrobe collection, yet she just simply didn’t feel like doing it as she considers it private. But that was years ago for she recently toured her loyal “vlangers” (the term she coined pertaining to her subscribers) around her and husband Ogie Alcasid’s walk-in closet via her first video blog (or “vlang” for her) uploaded on her self-titled YouTube channel.
Regine started her closet tour by showing her disheveled cabinets containing her footwear, dresses, gowns, and other clothing articles and imparted how not being able to fix those made her lose track already of the pieces she owns and even gave their son Nate other spot to hide into. Thus, she’s eyeing to turn it into a personal project of hers.
She then moved on to her massive shoe collection, which she began by recounting the first time she wore shoes with heels – a pair of two-inch white shoes she used in walking along a rice field en route to one of the amateur singing contests she participated in. But her curiosity and penchant on branded footwear was born when she began earning money and went to Hong Kong to promote her albums where she saw a lot of those in the stores located there.
The 49-year-old multi-awarded and celebrated singer-actress also introduced to her “vlangers” some her high-heeled shoes that are special for her and the one that’s her most favorite. She even imparted the stories behind a few of her shoes, to which some were runway collections.
In the end, she clarified that this is not simply hoarding for this is a huge part of her job as an artist. Expected to be in fashion and be presentable at all time, she truly needs to invest on her wardrobe.
Before saying goodbye to her “vlangers”, Regine announced a contest for those who would subscribe to “vlang”, telling them that once her channel reaches 100,000 subscribers, she will give away 10 of her shoe collections to 10 lucky subscribers who are going to be randomly picked.
