The solid, star-studded cast of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo graced ASAP Natin ‘To last February 12. Apart from the high-energy performances, we witnessed a heartfelt tribute to Primetime King Coco Martin.
It was a double feat for the FPJ’s Batang Quiapo squad as lead actress Lovi Poe celebrated her birthday on the ASAP stage with a sultry and supreme performance of Miley Cyrus’' “Flowers,” looking every inch a goddess in her crimson ensemble.
In her speech, Lovi thanked her ASAP family for the love, and expressed that she has nothing more to wish for since she’s got the best present, which is the chance to recreate her dad Fernando Poe Jr.’s classic masterpiece, “To be part of Batang Quiapo is the best birthday gift for me.”
“Sa sobrang daming magagandang nangyayari ngayon, parang wala na akong mahihiling pa. Siguro, sana tuloy-tuloy, and I just want to be surrounded by the right people always,” she added.
After we fell in love with the Supreme Actress, we were delighted to see Coco back on the ASAP stage. The tribute for the actor-director commenced with a video presentation wherein he was introduced as the “Idol ng Masa.” Fans from all walks of life shared why they’re a Coco 'stan.'
Rap artists Bassilyo, Kial, Jonas, Smugglaz, Pistolero, Crazymix, Mastafeat, and Flict-G then hyped up the audience as they performed the “Batang Quiapo” theme song. Coco sang “Salamat” by The Dawn, followed by a quick interview with Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera.
When asked how he feels to be back on primetime, he settled for the words nervous, excited, and proud, “Muli, nandito kami nagtutulong-tulong para mabigyan ng magandang teleserye ang buong Pilipinas at iba pang bansa.”
The segment cuts to another audio-visual presentation featuring Coco’s teleseryes in the past decade. Kapamilya artists then belted out the OSTs of Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, Walang Hanggan, Juan Dela Cruz, Ikaw Lamang, and FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Coco, who was seated in the audience, was noticeably moved when “Ililigtas Ka Niya” and “Huwag Ka Nang Umiyak” were performed.
As Gary enthralled with “Kapalaran,” which is part of the FPJ’s Batang Quiapo soundtrack, the cast members and creatives strutted the stage, starting with the group of Directors Malu Sevilla, Kevin Vela, and Vince Gaite.
Looking fantastic in their formal garbs, Cherry Pie Picache, Lito Lapid, John Estrada, Dindo Arroyo, Mercedes Cabral, McCoy de Leon, Susan Africa, Tommy Abuel, Irma Adlawan, and Pen Medina graced the ASAP stage. Also present were Mark Lapid, Sugar Ray Mammoth, Bigmak, Renz, Benzon, Norvin Dela Pena, Lovely Dela Pena, Ghost Wrecker, and Toni Fowler.
Lovi traded her sexy birthday costume with a ravishing red dress as she walked the stage, while Coco completed the spot in his sleek suit. In the interview, Lovi, who will never get tired of expressing gratitude, told his leading man, “Salamat at makaka-partner na kita.” Meanwhile, Coco promised a level-up storytelling in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
