An upbeat disco vibe greeted viewers as that much-anticipated “big comeback” became a reality on Sunday, January 9 on ASAP Natin ‘To.
Singing and dancing to the groove of the biggest disco hits of the 1970s performed by the band Six Part Invention, our OPM icons went full throttle in their throwback set, starting with a revved up performance of Alicia Bridges’ “I Love The Nightlife.” Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid then blazed the disco floor with her rendition of Donna Summer’s “On The Radio.”
Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla then got everyone down to the beat to another Donna Summer dance classic “MacArthur Park” with Erik Santos and Nyoy Volante. Hot dance princesses Krystal Brimner and Vivoree Esclito then took over to show their cool disco moves.
Janine Gutierrez, Jason Dy, and Kim Chiu then brought the house down with their version of KC and Sunshine Band’s “That’s The Way I Like It” before Robi Domingo did a superb dance solo. Regine and Zsa Zsa reappeared on stage to perform a showcase dance duet of Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer’s “No More Tears” before Enchong Dee and Donny Pangilinan joined in to flaunt their killer groove.
Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano then capped the opening number with that centerpiece, high-octane performance of Kool and the Gang’s “Ladies Night.”
But after the upbeat, lively opening number featuring the classic disco anthem, things turned mellow as Regine and Zsa Zsa captured hearts with a medley of unforgettable love songs from Olivia Newton-John. They sang their renditions of Olivia’s hits “I Honestly Love You” and “Hopelessly Devoted To You.”
Celebrity housemates of Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10 then graced the ASAP Natin ‘To stage with a reunion number singing their original song “Kapit Bisig” composed by Alexa Ilacad. Performing the song were the Final 5 – Alyssa Valdez, Anjj Salvacion, Madam Inutz, Samantha Bernardo, and Brenda Mage. They were joined by fellow housemates Alexa, KD Estrada, Shanaia Gomez, Eian Rances, Karen Bordador, Jordan Andrews, Benedix Ramos, John Adajar, Albie Casino, and Chie Filomeno.
Hugot Queen Moira dela Torre then crooned her popular collab song with Daniel Padilla, “Mabagal,” with the flashy iDolls trio Lucas Garcia, Matty Juniosa, and Enzo Almario.
They were followed by a grand production number by the Marry Me, Marry You cast led by Janine Gutierrez and Paulo Avelino to promote the show’s upcoming finale. They appeared with fellow cast members Jake Ejercito, Adrian Lindayag, Keann Johnson, Analain Salvador, and Iana Bernandez.
The New Gen Divas then took the audience to another sentimental throwback, singing popular OPM love songs of the 1990s. Janine Berdin first sang Toni Gonzaga’s “Someone Always Saying Goodbye” before Sheena Belarmino soared with her version of Carol Banawa’s “Stay.” Lara Maigue then performed that heartfelt tune “How Did You Know?” and Elha Nympha brought their outstanding performance to a close with a stirring rendition of Ella May Sayson’s “Till My Heartaches End.”
A sizzling dance off between eye-catching calendar girl Chie Filomeno and Queen of the Dancefloor Kim Chiu then scorched the stage as they grooved to the beat of trending Sex Bomb Girls tunes.
New gen heartthrob Donny Pangilinan then performed his new soulful and inspirational single “Wings.” Asia’s Phoenix Morissette then lit up the ASAP Natin ‘To stage with an intense version of Little Mix’s “Power” as a sort of teaser for her 10th anniversary digital concert, “Phoenix.”
As the climax of the week’s concert party, the big comeback Kapamilya fans have been eagerly awaiting has turned into reality. The Ultimate Heartthrob Piolo Pascual has returned to ASAP Natin ‘To and performed his signature ballads through the years with revered OPM icons in “The Greatest Showdown.” He first sang “Kailangan Kita” with Gary, followed by “Sana Ikaw” with Zsa Zsa. Erik then joined Piolo onstage to collab on “Kung Ako Ba Siya?” before Regine sang with him their popular duet “Paano Kita Iibigin?,” the theme song of their movie of the same title. Piolo then concluded his monumental comeback singing his new single “Tawag Mo.”
