To join in the celebration of Pride Month, the ASAP Natin ‘To family prepared a special Sunday celebration for its June 27 episode. With the header of #ASAPpride, Kapamilya stars offered colorful world-class performances that lift up everyone’s spirits, especially those in the LGBTQIA+ community.
The whole ASAP family began the weekend party with a wave of the liveliest throwback songs, starting with the bop “Kembot.” Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano with Kapamilya cuties Robi Domingo and Donny Pangilinan followed this with Parokya ni Edgar’s “Mr. Suave”.
Dancefloor babes Maymay Entrata, AC Bonifacio, Vivoree Esclito, and Maris Racal prepared a sweet treat with their “Sayaw Kikay” performance before singing hunks Erik Santos, Jason Dy, and Kyle Echarri took on the stage and sang “Totoy Bibo”.
Top biriteras Angeline Quinto, Zephanie Dimaranan, and Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla continued the popping celebration with the song “Sasakyan Kita” while the dancefloor hotties Joao Constancia, Christian Babbles, and Edward Barber added their grooving moves to Alex Gonzaga’s “Chambe”.
The Concert King Martin Nievera and Asia’s Pop Heartthrob Darren Espanto sang their own rendition of the fun “Otso- Otso”. Singing icons Ogie Alcasid, Klarisse de Guzman, and Sheena Belarmino matched the energy with their performance of “Pamela One”.
Love tandems MayWard (Maymay and Edward) and DonBelle (Donny and Belle Mariano) soon stepped on stage for a quick dance sesh. Not long after, Elha Nympha, Janine Berdin, and Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez delivered their performance of “Karakaraka!” with the talented dancers Enchong Dee, Jameson Blake, and Queen of the Dancefloor Kim Chiu.
ASAP’s New Gen Birit Divas gave us a karaoke vibing afternoon with their magnificent performances of Whitney Houston’s music. Janine Berdin began with “All The Man That I Need” as Sheena entered with “All At Once”. Zephanie then belted the classic “You’re Still My Man” and Elha ended with the emotional song “Didn’t We Almost Have It All”.
The next awaited performers were the members of the top-trending P-Pop girl group, BINI. But before they delivered their concert-level performance of “Unbound”, Mr. Pure Energy Gary V, Asia’s Pop Heartthrob Darren, The Voice alum Kyle and welcomed BINI on stage with their smooth and suave performance.
Making her comeback to the ASAP stage was the multi-talented Janella Salvador. The Kapamilya actress and musician took a short break from her busy entertainment life as she took on the role of becoming a wonderful mother to her newborn baby Jude. Now that she is ready to conquer the world both as a parent and celeb, Janella performed the beautiful lullaby song “You Are My Sunshine.”
ASAP’s Dancefloor Sweetheart Maymay unleashed the popstar within her as she performed her latest song “‘Di Kawalan” on stage. Her smoking performance got even hotter when Enchong, Jameson, and Joao joined her with their rocking moves.
Next, ASAP’s top singers Martin, Ogie, and Erik were joined by the country’s most talented singers Jed Madela, Nina, Lie Reposposa, Klarisse, Jason, and Elaine Duran to serenade the world with a melodious mash-up of “Mad World” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends”.
For the episode’s ASAP Transformation segment, it was only fitting that Asia’s Songbird Regine impersonated The Mother Monster and global icon of Pride, Lady Gaga. With a message to be brave and express yourself, Regine sang Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”.
Not putting an end to the pumped up party, dancefloor royalties Kim, AC, and Vivoree collabed on a stellar performance of the Pinay girl group Sexbomb’s greatest hits Spaghetti and Halukay Ube.
Another amazing collaboration soon followed as Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan and Asia’s Phoenix Morissette offered a powerful and moving performance of Pink’s “All I Know So Far”.
In celebration of ABS-CBN Film Restoration’s 10th anniversary, ASAP’s world-class singers performed in The Greatest Showdown as tribute. Their moving SAGIP PELIKULA project of restoring and remastering the greatest Filipino movies has reached the milestone of successfully reviving 197 films. Erik, Gary, Angeline Quinto, Ogie, Zsa Zsa, Martin, and Regine each delivered a spectacular performance by singing different theme music from the iconic films. It definitely reminded us to appreciate how we can relive over and over again its stories of inspiration, history, culture, romance, and family for the many years to come.
