ASAP Natin ‘To knocks on our hearts with one of the grandest gestures this Valentine’s Day. Centering on the theme of #ASAPisLOVE, they composed for us an afternoon filled with romantic and passionate performances that inspire us to embrace all kinds of love.
The Valentine’s special opens with a marvelous stage decorated with hearts and the colors of love. And what better way to set the scene than with a medley of love songs, right? Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs Angeline Quinto and the belting iDolls trio — Lucas Garcia, Matty Juniosa, and Enzo Almario — began with their performance of Whitney Houston’s “Love Will Save the Day”.
Young pop artist Iñigo Pascual joined ASAP's newest host, the beautiful Janine Gutierrez, in singing a duet of “I Need Your Love”. Singing sensations Ogie Alcasid, Jason Dy, Jeremy Glinoga, and Darren Espanto give their rendition of “Savage Love'' with matching dance steps. The dancing fever doesn’t end as Queen of the Dance Floor Kim Chiu and charming heartthrob Joshua Garcia bop to the tune of “DJ Got Us Falling in Love”. Diva singers Zsa Zsa Padilla, KZ Tandingan, and Klarisse De Guzman then dominated the stage as they sang “When Love Takes Over” by David Guetta.
ASAP’s dancing stars made use of their awesome moves to show off how they feel with some of our favorite K-Pop songs. Maymay Entrata, Loisa Andalio, Charlie Dizon, and Vivoree Esclito performed the BLACKPINK chart topper “Lovesick Girls” while Ronnie Alonte, Jameson Blake, and Jeremy Glinoga danced to EXO’s hit song “Love Shot”.
Next generation divas Elha Nympha, Sheena Belarmino, and Janine Berdin offered us a powerful performance of “Love Shack” before balladeers Martin Nievera, Erik Santos, and Gary Valenciano delivered a soulful rendition of “All 4 Love”. The ASAP family joined in to end the song and all together greeted everyone “I love you” in different languages as Filipino all over the world were celebrating the day of love with them.
One of the recent hit songs that millions of love-struck individuals relate to is the Billboard topper “Driver’s License” by Fil-Am actress Olivia Rodrigo. ASAP just couldn’t resist giving us a taste of the song’s deep feels with a version from the show’s top belters Elha, Janine, Sheena, and KZ.
Returning to the ASAP stage, Iñigo teases us with Tarsier Records’ first of many remakes of internationally renowned Air Supply’s music. He, in collaboration with Moophs, performed their modern reimagination of Air Supply’s “All Out of Love”. Their soothing serenade got the crowd in the mood for the sexy dance performance by Jane De Leon. She was quickly followed by P-Pop girl group BINI’s energetic performance of Twice’s “Yes or Yes”.
In a battle to prove who’s better at making smooth moves, a dance battle ensues between the boys and girls. Dancing to the song “Buss It”, handsome idols Jameson Blake, Joao Constancia, Aljon Mendoza, and Joshua Garcia take on the captivating ladies Vivoree Esclito, Karina Bautista, Charlie Dizon, and Maymay Entrata for the challenge.
As #ASAPisLOVE isn’t just focusing on romance and believes at how hope and faith contribute greatly to the power of love, the show celebrated 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines by inviting Inspirational diva and Catholic Mass Media Awards Hall of Famer Jamie Rivera to sing on the stage. Along with The Company and OPM icons Jason Dy, Nyoy Volante, Jeremy Glinoga, Jed Madela, and Erik Santos, she performed the inspirational song “We Give Our Yes” composed by Fr. Carlo Magno Marcelo and produced by award winning hit maker Jonathan Manalo.
Young and budding singers KD Estrada, Anji Salvacion, Diego Gutierrez, and Sam Cruz were joined by veteran singer Martin Nievera to serenade everyone with his song “Each Day With You”. Philippine divas Nina, Juris, and Zsa Zsa continued to swoon the audience with the Pinoy hugot songs, “Teka Lang” and “KLWKN”. Iñigo and rock vocalist Bamboo, on the other hand, performed a slow but touching song by the rock band Oasis, “Wonderwall”.
ASAP’s Valentine’s special definitely could not end without some kilig hits from our celebrity couple. The cute chinito-chinita tandem turned real-life couple Xian Lim and Kim Chiu brought smiles to our faces as they sang Ronnie Liang’s “Ngiti”. Husband and wife musicians KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde also softened our hearts when they performed their very own love song entitled “Simula”. Last but not least, the music industry’s power couple, Regine and Ogie Alcasid make us believe in forever with their sweet rendition of Side A’s classic song, “Forevermore.”
The Valentine’s celebration ended with a meaningful song by concert royalties Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano. The duo chose to perform “As 1”, a song from their 2009 collaborative album of the same name. Similar to the song’s message, Valentine’s Day is rooted in being together with people we care about. By giving love to our special someone, family, and friends, we can go far with our dreams and conquer whatever challenges come our way.
