The country’s hottest musical idols turned a gloomy Sunday into a refreshing afternoon blast during the #ASAPidol episode on May 22.
Like the royally gifted talents they are, the ASAP Natin ‘To homies welcomed viewers with an awesome dance party as Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and up-and-coming pop singer Fana belted “Kings & Queens.” Heartthrobs Darren Espanto, Enchong Dee, and Jason Dy then heated up the cold afternoon with their performance of “Hot in Here.” Dancing hotties Kyle Echarri, Jeremy Glinoga, Edward Barber, and Jin Macapagal also joined in the fiery stage with their sexy performance of “Without Me”.
OPM icons Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, and Erik Santos hyped the mood with their singing of the classic song “Angel,” before love team KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad made hearts flutter with their duet of “Do You Really Want Me”.
Talented dancers Vivoree Esclito, Edward, and Jeremy G pumped up some energy in the air when they performed “Infinity”. “Cool For The Summer” then went on as Lara Maigue, Jayda, and Anji Salvacion dropped jaws with their rendition of the song. Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano also gave fresh beats with his version of “Rather Be”, to which dance idols AC Bonifacio, Sheena Belarmino, and Krystal Brimner rocked along.
After the exciting reveal of the Idol Philippines Season 2 judges,new show host Robi Domingo was proud to present them on the ASAP Natin ‘To stage for a special performance. Returning judges Asia’s Songbird Regine and Most Streamed OPM Artist Moira Dela Torre opened the segment with a magnificent performance of Jordin Sparks’ “This Is My Now.” They were joined by Idol Philippines alumni Anji Salvacion, Shanaia Gomez, Fana, Miguel Ordon, Gello Marquez, and iDolls trio Enzo Almario, Lucas Garcia, and Matty Juniosa.
To welcome the new judges, Parokya Ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda and Mr. Pure Energy Gary V, Regine, Moira, and Gary serenaded the audience with a powerful showcase of “Angels Brought Me Here." They were then joined by American Idol Season 18 finalist Francisco Martin, who performed Kelly Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This” and even imparted advice to singing dreamers like him.
The New Gen Birit Idols continued the musical fest as they each sang winning songs from the hit singing competition, American Idol. Reiven Umali gave an astounding performance of “Do I Make You Proud” before JM Yosures took the crowd’s attention and sang “Flying Without Wings.” Lara touched hearts with her renditions of “Inside Your Heaven”, while Sam Mangubat moved the audience while singing “Home”, Sheena then amazed us with her strong yet graceful performance of “I Believe.”
After hearing some iconic classics, viewers were taken on another trip down memory lane. Dancing sensations AC, Kyle, Enchong, and Chie Filomeno offered the ultimate 70’s throwback performance with some grooving moves.
The ASAP family also celebrated something new, and that was the launch of Concert King Martin Nievera’s newest single! The seasoned singer commanded the stage as he gave us a live treat by performing his recently released inspirational song, “Smile Again.”
Another celebratory bash ensued for Asia’s one and only pop heartthrob Darren, who is turning 21. His ASAP Natin ‘To family gifted him the spotlight as he performed his original song “Pabalik Sa'Yo.”
PauNine fans then surely rejoiced as their favorite love team, Janine Gutierrez and Paulo Avelino, sang a kilig-filled duet of “Pelikula,” before announcing their first movie together, “Ngayon Kaya.”
Finally, the “The Greatest Showdown” of the episode was made as a tribute to birthday celebrant – Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla. The OPM royalty was greeted by her close friends and family, and was serenaded with songs close to her heart. Zsa Zsa, herself, was given time to shine as she performed her song, “Point of No Return.” Concert King Martin then continued the medley of Zsa Zsa’s songs with his performance of “Through The Years.” Karylle made her mother smile from ear to ear as she sang her heartwarming single “Simula.” Klarisse de Guzman then continued the celebration by singing “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Asia’s Songbird Regine closed the touching tribute with her belting “We’re All Alone.”
