Breakout star Charlie Dizon is now making heads turn. Right after the release of “Fan Girl,” an official 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, Charlie’s portrayal of Jane, an obsessed teenage fan of Paulo Avelino, has both shocked and amazed everyone. Soon enough, she earned the festival’s Best Actress award and gained the recognition she deserves.

When asked about her reaction for being named Best Actress, the 24-year old Rise Artist expressed her happiness and sincerest gratitude. It has been her dream to win such an award, but didn’t expect to be blessed with it after just a few years into acting. “Sobrang grateful ko, siyempre. At tsaka lagi ako nagtha-thank you talaga kasi nga answered prayer siya,” she said.
We know this is just the start for Charlie, but we’re already a big fan. If you want to see her performances other than “Fan Girl,” you can find her in previous Kapamilya teleseryes Bagani (as Marikit/Halina) and A Soldier’s Heart (as Isabel Gezali). You might have heard as well that she acts as the young Teddie in the digital movie blockbuster, “Four Sisters Before the Wedding.”
“Fan Girl” will, of course, always be Charlie’s classic, breakthrough project. Aside from Charlie winning Best Actress, “Fan Girl” reaped the most MMFF awards, including Best Actor for Paulo, Best Director for Antoinette Jadaone, and Best Picture, among others.
