ASAP Natin ‘To was definitely pop on Sunday, April 10, as its versatile mainstays and awesome guest performers treated avid viewers with invigorating and fantastic numbers that either made us sing along or brought us to our feet anew for sure.
The episode commenced with an 80s-themed extravaganza, with the Kapamilya singers and dancers marching into the stage as they sang and bopped to The Go-gos “We Got The Beat” at the same time. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid then belted it solo, followed by the dance break provided by Vivoree, Krystal Brimner, AC Bonifacio, Joao Constancia, Enchong Dee, Jeremy G, and Kyle Echarri. They were later on joined by Martin Nievera, who was then singing Wang Chung’s “Everybody Have Fun Tonight”.
Klarisse de Guzman, Elha Nympha, Janella Salvador, and KZ Tandingan joined forces as they performed The Pointer Sisters’ “Neutron Dance”. Zsa Zsa Padilla, meanwhile, had Gen Z artists AC Bonifacio, Jeremy G, Sheena Belarmino, and Kyle as her backups in singing Bananarama’s “Love In The First Degree.”
They were succeeded by Maris Racal, Fana, and Anji Salvacion, who enticed us with their rendition of Seduction’s “Two To Make It”, to which Echong and Joao also provided a dance break. The rest of the ASAP homies went back on-stage to sing another The Go-gos’ hit “Head Over Heels” with Kim Chiu eventually joining them after her energetic dance solo.
Darren Espanto, Angela Ken, Jeremy, and Sheena then amazed us with their version of the popular 90’s dance hit “5,6,7,8” by Steps.
Since the episode is about anything pop, it would be arguably incomplete without having some of the hottest acts in the Philippine Pop or P-Pop scene on the show! BGYO swooned us with their mashup of Daniel Padilla hits “Simpleng Tulad Mo” and “Nasa ‘Yo Na Ang Lahat” with KZ, who twisted it a bit by injecting a rap part.
Next was Alamat, who inspired us to keep on reaching for our goals through their track “ABKD”. MNL48 delivered the same message as they performed “No Way Man”. BINI, on the other hand, enthralled us with their cover of “I-swing Mo Ako” by Sharon Cuneta and VST & Company along with Ogie Alcasid. The ASAP family also didn’t forget to greet BGYO members Akira Morishita and Gelo Rivera as they both celebrate their birthdays this April.
Asia’s Songbird Regine and guest performer Ice Seguerra then gave us chill Sunday vibes with their duet of Michael Johnson hits “Bluer Than Blue”, “Doors”, and “I’ll Always Love You.” It was followed by the fascinating all-girls number of Juris and Nina, along with “New Gen Sessionistas” Anji Salvacion, Shanaia Gomez, Fana, Angela Ken, SAB, and Lian Kyla, wherein they performed sweet renditions of Willie Revillame’s “Yun Ka” and “Ikaw Na Nga”.
As a way of commemorating The Rolling Stones’ 60 years in the music industry, “Queen of the Dancefloor” Kim Chiu set the ASAP stage on fire as she danced to their all-time hit “(I Can Get No) Satisfaction” along with ASAP Dancefloor Hotties Belle Mariano, Vivoree, Maris, and AC, as well as heartthrobs Joao, Enchong, and Kyle.
After endearing us with her pleasing performance earlier in this episode, Anji Salvacion surely delighted her fans when she finally announced that she’s going to have her first-ever major concert this coming April 30 entitled “Feels: The Concert” that will be streamed on KTX.
Our beloved New Gen Birit Idols then moved with their duets of OPM heartbreak songs. Anthony Castillo and Janine Berdin belted out “Paano” by Gary Valenciano, Lara Maigue and Reiven Umali sang “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” by Ice Seguerra, Sam Mangubat and Sheena Belarmino ripped our hearts with “Pagbigyang Muli” by Erik Santos, while Elha Nympha and JM Yosures astounded with their version of “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin”. Elha was also greeted by her ASAP family for her 18th birthday this coming April 16 and even received a warm group hug from her fellow New Gen Birit Idols and hosts Martin Nievera and Robi Domingo.
As always, the program capped off with “The Greatest Showdown” segment, wherein the timeless hits of Barry Manilow were performed. Martin sang “Life Will Go On”, Jona belted out “Somewhere In The Night”, Jason Dy crooned “Ready To Take A Chance Again”, Zsa Zsa stirred us with “Sandra”, Nina moved audiences with “It’s A Miracle”, while Regine made us sing along with “The Old Songs”.
