Pinoy pride was overflowing in ASAP Natin ‘To’s August 8 episode. Following the amazing Olympic wins of Filipino athletes, the whole ASAP family celebrated with Pinoy colors, music, and talent in world-class performances.
What better way to start off the celebration than with everyone coming together and singing the victorious anthem “Isigaw Mo”? This was followed by Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan and Asia’s Pop Heartthrob Darren Espanto singing “Raise Your Flag,” the newly released and patriotic song by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. Their fiery performance was accompanied by the moves of Joao Constancia, Ronnie Alonte and Dancefloor Sweetheart Maymay Entrata.
Belting “Pinoy Ako!” was King of Teleserye Theme Songs Erik Santos, The Voice alum Kyle Echarri, host-actress Janine Gutierrez. They were joined by the rocking dancing of New Gen Dance Princess AC Bonifacio, Vivoree Esclito, and Loisa Andalio.
Pinay biriteras Elha Nympha, Sheena Belarmino, and Klarisse de Guzman along with the hottest P-Pop girl group BINI sang “Posible” at the top of their lungs. Right after, Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla and the iDolls trio Lucas Garcia, Matty Juniosa, and Enzo Almario unleashed a powerful performance of “Puso” whilst Kapamilya pairings SethDrea (Seth Fedelin and Andrea Brillantes) and DonBelle (Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano) danced to their hearts’ content.
OPM King Ogie Alcasid and Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs Angeline Quinto inspired us to keep holding on to our dream and each other with their performance of “Bitiw”. This led the whole of the ASAP family to come together and dance to “Isigaw Mo” once again as Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid sang out loud.
With #ASAPpinoypride as a celebratory tribute to the Tokyo Olympics 2020 athletes, the show was graced by the presence of the nation’s first Olympic gold medalist, Hidilyn Diaz. The Pinay weightlifter is filled with pride and great responsibility to be a historic icon to Filipinos and the world. She says, “Kahit mahirap at kahit parang imposible, nakamit natin dahil Pilipino tayo”. Even if there are countless struggles, she encourages everyone to move forward and trust each other to get through the challenges.
The ASAP family and the rest of the country are grateful for the recognition the athletes gave for the country. As tribute for their hard work, KZ and Pinoy rock band 6CYCLEMIND offered a passionate duet of “Saludo” for them. New Gen Birit Divas Elha, Sheena, Gigi de Lana, and Lara Marigue each offered stunning singing of OPM songs for the Pinoy athletes as well. As a wonderful closing to the tribute, world-renowned divas Zsa Zsa Padilla and Regine delivered a heartwarming appreciation with their show stopping performance of “Lipad Ng Pangarap”.
With the episode’s theme of #ASAPpinoypride, the newest segment ASAP Discoveries was launched to feature viral, trending, and amazingly skilled Pinoys on the show. Dancing hotel security guard and former dance instructor Gene Fernandez showcased on the ASAP stage his macho and suave moves that gained him millions of views on TikTok.
Young aspiring stars who have grown into world-class performers demonstrate their Pinoy pride with marvelous back-to-back performances. AC and Darren began it with a smoking dance showdown. The Star Magic family followed with a vocal showdown featuring their powerful singers Erik, Jed Madela, Angeline, Nyoy Volante, Klarisse, Gigi, Lana, CJ Navato, Sab, Sela, Moira Lacambra, and Alyssa Muhlach. To top it off, SB19, one of the biggest P-pop boy groups, also wowed audiences with their singing and dancing skills as they performed “Bazinga”.
In celebration of Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano’s birthday, veteran singers of The Greatest Showdown each sang a classic song made by the singer-songwriter birthday celebrant. Gary started it with his solemn song, “Take Me Out of the Dark”. King of OPM Ogie performed “Reaching Out” and Divine Diva Zsa Zsa belted “Di Na Natuto”. King of Teleserye Theme Songs Erik gave his performance of “Paano” next, which was followed by Asia’s Songbird Regine’s “Hang On”.
