ASAP Natin ‘To definitely had a special and memorable ‘one big family celebration’ as some of the biggest Kapamilya stars gathered to give us spectacular performances through its latest episode last Sunday, October 18, which also marked its return on free television via A2Z.
The opening number was made powerful by Zsa Zsa Padilla’s performance of Pharell Williams’ “Happy” along with Kapamilya singers Nyoy Volante, Jason Dy, Angeline Quinto, Jed Madela, Klarisse de Guzman, Jona, Elha Nympha, and Erik Santos, which was followed by the intense dance performances of Enchong Dee and Kim Chiu.
Sarah Geronimo and Inigo Pascual then made us bop to their rendition of the BTS hit “Dynamite”, to which Jeremy Glinoga and It’s Showtime Bidaman Jin Macapagal danced to. OPM icon Ogie Alcasid led the performance of Imagine Dragon’s “On Top Of The World” Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Gary Valenciano, and Martin Nievera returned on the stage to sing the Sister Sledge classic “We Are Family” as video clips of other Kapamilya stars from other shows bopping to it were flashed on the screen.
Dance Royalties Kim Chiu and Maymay Entrata also heated up the dance floor as they gave their all in showing us their edgy but sweet dance moves. Maymay amused us with her own take on the trending dance challenge “It Really Hurts,” while, along with teen sensations AC Bonifacio, Sheena Belarmino, and Krystal Brimner, the Chinita Princess served us their own flavor of BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez’s “Ice Cream.” Newest teen heartthrobs, Star Hunt Academy Boys, also thrilled us their on-point dance cover of BTS’ “ON”.
Giving us a dose of kilig was box-office King and Queen Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, who’s yet to star in the upcoming digital series “The House Arrest Of Us.” Aside from answering a few questions about their latest project, it was also Kath who introduced DJ’s production number inspired by his recently-concluded digital concert titled “Apollo”.
Apart from KathNiel, The Gold Squad was also there to spread kilig vibes as they grooved to another popular dance challenge called "Senorita Come With Me." However, it was only Kyle Echarri and Francine Diaz who were in the studio, while Seth Fedelin and Andrea Brillantes' performance at their respective homes were flashed on the screen.
Moira Dela Torre then rended our hearts with a back-to-back hugot kantahan with Nina and Zsa Zsa, singing her hits “Tagpuan” and “Malaya.” After the evocative number, Nina went on to promote her upcoming birthday concert on November 1, then hosts Robi and Zsa Zsa called Star Music executive Jonathan Manalo to present the multi-platinum certifications for Moira’s records “Malaya” and “Patawad” and her single with husband Jason Hernandez “Ikaw At Ako, making her the “female OPM artist with the most number of digital platinum certifications”.
This was followed by the appearance of newly-weds TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan, who made our hearts flutter with their duet of their latest single “Can’t Wait To Say I Do” and talked a bit about their wedding with hosts Robi and Martin.
From singing the popular OST of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano “Huwag Ka Nang Umiyak”, Mr. Pure Energy, once again pierced our hearts with his version of “Kunin Mo Na Ang Lahat Sa Akin” as the newest Cardo-Alyana love theme song for the longest-running primetime drama’s 5th anniversary celebration.
The virtual collaboration of top balladeers Ogie Alcasid, Martin Nievera, and Erik Santos with Broadway Diva Lea Salonga on the OPM classic “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal,” which was introduced by Ms. Charo Santos-Concio, also added to the stellar lineup of that episode.
Young divas Elha Nympha and Janine Berdin capped off that episode’s set with their soulful performances alongside The Voice Teens Philippines Season 2 winners Kendra Aguirre, Heart Salvador, Isang Manlapaz, and Cydel Gabutero and the Asia’s Songbird.
This episode was made extra fun with the appearances of the It’s Showtime family, the cast of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Paano Kita Mapapasalamatan presenter Judy Ann Santos, Iba ‘Yan host Angel Locsin and her director-fiancé Neil Arce, Walang Hanggang Paalam ensemble, Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin stars Jodi Sta. Maria and Iza Calzado, and the lead cast of Bagong Umaga who also dropped by the program to promote its premiere on October 26.
Since it was ASAP Natin ‘To’s grand return to free TV, ABS-CBN executives Carlo L Katigbak (President and CEO), Cory V. Vidanes (Chief Operating Officer for Broadcast), and Laurenti Dyogi (Entertainment Production Head), made sure to be present in the ‘one big family celebration’.
