International stars made 2019 extra special

Ever since the 90s, ASAP, (now ASAP Natin ‘To), has always made our Sundays extra fun and delightful through the world-class performances they showcase as they continuously strive to give us spectacular musical concert treat every week.

Those were delivered not only by the most acclaimed artists in the country, but also by famous international artists who dropped by to promote their respective shows or projects, or to just simply visit. Thus, before we end the year and start another one soon, let us look back on the international stars who wowed us on ASAP Natin ‘To and made our year even brighter!

1. Carlie Hanson

Fast-rising American singer-songwriter Carlie Hanson rocked the ASAP Natin ‘To stage last September, performing the song “Back in My Arms” from her latest album Junk. That time, she was in the country to attend Nickelodeon's first-ever Asian SlimeFest, a music festival that celebrated both local and international artists.

At the age of 16, Carlie rose to fame after she uploaded a video of her covering Zayn’s "Pillowtalk" on Instagram, which she recorded as an entry to a radio contest, has drawn much attention from the netizens and a music producer alike.

2. Jocelyn Enriquez

On that same month, Disco Queen of the ‘90s Jocelyn Enriquez, who is also dubbed the “Queen of Freestyle”, sang her hit song “If You Could Read My Mind” alongside Zsa Zsa Padilla and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

She is an internationally-acclaimed dance-pop singer whose parents both came from the province of Pangasinan. She made a comeback on the music scene this year and was here in Manila to promote her much-awaited single titled “To Love Again”.

3. Jasmine Trias

Together with some of our country’s biggest stars, Pinay pride Jasmine Trias entertained our Kapamilyas based in California during ASAP Natin ‘To’s Bay Area concert last August. On the said event, she and the Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan sang Kelly Clarkson’s best-selling single “A Moment Like This”.

Jasmine is the eldest daughter of a Filipino couple who hailed from Tanza, Cavite and then migrated to Honolulu, Hawaii. She was the third placer in the Season 3 of American Idol, and the voice behind the popular promotional jingle titled “Love Ko ‘To” for a global fast food chain.

4. DAYA

American singer and songwriter Grace Martine Tandon, who is professionally known as DAYA, jammed with us last May, singing her new single “Insomnia” that she released last March.

She also performed her Best Dance Recording song at the 2017 Grammy Awards that she recorded with American duo The Chainsmokers titled “Don’t Let Me Down”, alongside KZ Tandingan and Yeng Constantino.

DAYA grew up in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania and started to rise on her music career after she worked with music conservatory owner Christina Chirumbolo and songwriter/producer Gino Barletta at a music camp back in 2015.

5. Rita Ora

Last March, multi-awarded British singer-songwriter and actress Rita Ora made us go wild as she performed her hit song “I Will Never Let You Down” with KZ Tandingan onstage. Apart from this, she amused us by singing her fourth single “Let You Love Me” from her second studio album Phoenix.

The multi-talented and multi-awarded artist had her very first concert in the Philippines on March 10, 2019 at the New Frontier Theater (formerly KIA Theatre).

6. Rick Price

Making our February much sweeter, Australian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer Rick Price serenaded us by performing his timeless hit “Heaven Knows”, alongside Concert King Martin Nievera and Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano.

After more than two decades, Rick came back in the Philippines for a Valentine’s week concert tour. Since the 1990’s, he soared in the music industry making some of the hits that always charted high on the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Charts.
