Apparently, no hearts were ready for the surprise appearance of the widely adored talented artist and heartthrob James Reid on the October 6 episode of “ASAP,” which marked his delightful return on the Sunday variety show!
Of course, his comeback wouldn’t be complete without him serenading everyone with his well-loved, kilig-inducing hit song “Randomantic,” which sent many ladies in the audience and several program staff alike into a frenzy while he was singing and roaming around the stage. Just in case you missed it, he first performed the recurrently trending song on the ASAP stage in 2015, following its release that same year.
He was gleefully welcomed by mainstays Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Robi Domingo, Darren Espanto, Donny Pangilinan, Belle Mariano, Edward Barber, and Regine Velasquez.
When asked by the Concert King how he felt about his comeback, James admitted how “super nervous” he was since it had been around five or six years since the last time that he set his foot on the “ASAP” stage and saw everyone on the show, including his idol, who appeared to be Gary V.
Mr. Pure Energy went on to reveal that nobody knew that it was James who would come out on the stage that moment, so the exhilaration and elation conveyed by the spectators, especially some members of the staff, when his name was mentioned were all authentic.
“Thank you so much to all the Reiders, all the fans who’ve been supporting me since PBB days. It’s been a long, long time. Thank you so much. I love you, guys. May mga bago akong kanta that I’m really excited to show with everyone dito sa ‘ASAP’ stage. So, stay tuned,” James expressed when asked for his message to his ardent supporters.
With regard to the artist who he wishes to collaborate with, James said that it would be none other than Darren, who’s also a multifaceted artist like him.
It was not only the “ASAP” family who welcomed him, but also other Kapamilya celebrities, including the “It’s Showtime” family, to which he used to be a part as one of their co-hosts in 2017. He was greeted by his “twin brother” Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Amy Perez, MC and Lassy, and his best friend and fellow ‘Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010” alumni, Ryan Bang. Actress Lovi Poe and PBB Gen 11 hosts Enchong Dee, Melai Cantiveros, and Bianca Gonzalez also sent their well wishes for him.
James’ momentous comeback as a Kapamilya, which coincided with “ASAP”’s 30th anniversary kick-off celebration, reminded Robi of one of the lines from his hit 2015 teleserye “On The Wings of Love” that resonated to him the most, which was, “Kung mahal mo, babalikan mo.” Robi then introduced the pre-recorded video greeting for him by his current girlfriend Issa Pressman, who was also in the studio to personally witness this milestone of James.
It wasn’t only during his performance when we got to see him, as ent.abs-cbn.com also caught a glimpse of James while he was mingling and taking photos with several mainstays and staff of “ASAP.” He also didn’t miss to have a little photoshoot outside the studio solo and with his crew. Take a look on some of the behind-the-scenes ganaps of James during his first “ASAP” guesting in years in this video!
