ASAP Natin ‘To stars perform at home to bring hope, inspiration amid COVID-19 crisis

Revered and acclaimed music artists of ASAP Natin ‘To performed songs of inspiration, hope, resilience and faith that enlightened viewers on Sunday, March 29 in livestreamed videos from their respective homes all meticulously edited in sync to still present concert production-like quality.

This special digital concert episode was to offer assurance, entertainment, and comfort to people affected by the enhanced community quarantine, as the artists urged viewers to continue donating to ABS-CBN’s Pantawid Ng Pag-Ibig campaign to fund relief efforts to the less fortunate.

After main presenters Luis Manzano, Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Gary Valenciano, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Sarah Geronimo-Guidicelli, Piolo Pascual, Erik Santos, and Billy Crawford livestreamed their messages of encouragement and reflection, musical numbers from the artists’ homes were shown to delight and boost the morale of viewers.

Regine Velasquez-Alcasid started the show leading the touching hymn “Heal Our Land” with the collab video of the UP College of Music’s Villancico Vocal Ensemble. This was made to honor the father of a choir member who has passed on due to COVID-19.

Birit Queens Jona, Morissette, Klarisse de Guzman, and Angeline Quinto then gave a stirring rendition of the OPM standard “Mahiwaga.”

Martin Nievera and Zsa Zsa Padilla then scintillated us with their duet of another OPM classic, “Umagang Kay Ganda.” Erik Santos would follow with his stirring version of the Gospel song “Diyos ay Pag-Ibig” with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra String Quartet.

Young stars AC Bonifacio, Sheena Belarmino, Krystal Brimmer, World of Dance Philippines finalist Ken San Jose, Joao Constancia of BoybandPH, The Voice Teens Season 1 finalist Jeremy Glinoga, and the Gold Squad—Andrea Brillantes, Francine Diaz, Kyle Echarri and Seth Fedelin, would then dance to Vice Ganda’s novelty tune “Corona Bye Bye Na.”

Gary Valenciano would then make his trademark groove with members of his household to his hit upbeat song “Sa Yahweh”.

“Acoustic couples” will come next to sing their somber anthems—Moira dela Torre and Jason Marvin with “Hanggang Sa Huli,” KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde with “Ikaw At Ako Pa Rin,” and Yeng Constantino and Yam Asuncion with “Hawak Kamay.” Newlyweds Sarah Geronimo-Guidicelli and Matteo Guidicelli would then reprise their version of “You Are The Reason.”

To pay tribute to the late Kenny Rogers, Zsa Zsa would then perform the country and pop legend’s classic “Through The Years.”

A catchy and charming dance performance TikTok style of celebrity families followed. Kim Chiu danced to the tune of “Say So” with sister Lakam and niece Raine. Sunshine Cruz and daughters Angelica, Sam and Cesca then jiggled to the beat of “Get Busy (Shake That Thing)”

The country’s ace balladeers and their clans likewise serenaded us with their unforgettable love songs. Ogie Alcasid sang “Pangako” with daughter Leila, while Dingdong Avanzado performed “Basta’t Kasama Kita” with wife Jessa Zaragoza and daughter Jayda.

Inspired by the trending video of Medical City employees cheering on the hospital COVID-19 frontliners with the song “Pagsubok,” Darren Espanto and Inigo Pascual gave their own moving collab of the 90s hit from Orient Pearl.

Piolo Pascual then sang an uplifting take of “Lift Up Your Hands” before Ogie and Regine returned onscreen for their version of “You’ve Got A Friend.”

Megastar Sharon Cuneta would then perform “Both Sides Now.”

Erik Santos and Jed Madela interpreted George Canseco’s memorable movie theme “Gaano Kadalas Ang Minsan” with musicians from the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra accompanying in the background.

ENT-Otorhinolaryngologist Dr. Melfred Hernandez then recalled paying homage to the fallen COVID-19 frontliner and one of the country’s top cardiologists Dr. Raul Jara with his video singing “Paano Kita Mapapasalamatan,” which he performed with Sarah Geronimo-Guidicelli in a live, split-screen, impressive duet.

Martin would then sing an original song, “Buhay Mo at Buhay Ko” by Alvina Sy and Homer Flores, in honoring all COVID-19 frontliners.

Jona, Lara Maigue and David Ezra then collaborated for spirited, soaring version of “Hesus.” Gary V would then croon another classic “Gaya Ng Dati.”

The special episode was then capped off with an ensemble of the country’s top music artists and ASAP Natin ‘To performers singing the rousing “Ililigtas Ka Nya.”
