On the much brighter side of being stuck at home and pushed out of old routines is a surprising road to self-discovery. These Kapamilya stars share what the pandemic revealed about themselves.
The uncertain times led to the prioritizing of relationships – with God, family, and self. Apart from his love for the arts, Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin star Grae Fernandez realized how big his love for family is. He said life is fragile, so we must always treasure the time spent with loved ones. He also found the stay-at-home phase a test of patience.
Patrick Quiroz can relate to the quarantine boredom. But as the world let go of the haste, he learned to also nurture his patience. The young actor honed his organizing and cooking skills (he graduated from the novice level of frying eggs and hotdogs!) as well.
He also got a new love team partner in Vivoree Esclito, who said she rekindled her love for reading books and started to enjoy working out and cleaning the house.
Kira Balinger prioritized mental health care and inner healing. She found her creative outlet in painting. And as she resumes taping for Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin, the Kapamilya beauty had a deeper passion for her craft.
Former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Joj and Jai Agpangan fell in love with the steady mode. The trying times urged them to take things slow and appreciate their family’s love and the little things. More so, Joj kept herself happier by cooking while Jai focused on growing her financial maturity.
Joao Constancia added the Rubik’s cube hobby to his repertoire. Quarantine life also gained him cooking chops, and makeup skill that comes in handy when doing virtual tapings. Jameson Blake can relate to the one-man team dilemmas, so he dabbled in fashion styling. He’s also walking out of this season more responsible and a lot better at video editing.
Without her glam team, Kim Chiu learned to do her own makeup. She also discovered that ‘less is more’ when it comes to shopping for grocery essentials and that she has a hidden talent in video editing.
Angelina Cruz found painting, cooking, and baking immensely satisfying hobbies. Jeremy Glinoga discovered a deeper perspective on time and life, apart from his aptitude for video editing and drawing.
Maris Racal took up double short courses to make this period productive, so she realized that anything is possible as long as we put our effort into and find time for it. She also discovered that the kitchen is a fun place even if she has little cooking and baking abilities.
Miles Ocampo found the perfect delight in her coffee habit. She can finish four cups a day during the quarantine and it even led her to a coffee machine purchase and a new goal of putting up her own coffee shop someday. Just like many celebrities, she lists down love for cooking and working out as her top quarantine discoveries.
Tony Labrusca discovered that he can embrace the simple things far from the lavish ‘showbiz culture’. And, he added pounds during the quarantine. His Bagong Umaga co-star Nikki Valdez made more memories with the family and learned how to give DIY haircuts.
What’s your biggest quarantine self-discovery, Kapamilya?
