THEN AND NOW: Amazing, striking transformations of Kapamilya actors through the years

In the fast-paced world of show business, it’s not enough that you only have good looks or flawless beauty, but you also have to be impressively talented – may it be in acting, singing, dancing, and/or hosting – along with possessing an admirable personality, in order for you to stay for a long time.

Thus, for today’s Kapamilya Snaps, we’re featuring 15 of the Kapamilya heartthrobs whose transformations through the years we’re able to witness as they’ve already been in the industry most of their lives.

As we all know, a lot of stars we currently look up began their showbiz careers at early ages, such as Nash Aguas, Zaijian Jaranilla, Carlo Aquino, John Prats, and Arjo Atayde.

Before we get to see him as Private Michael Mendoza  in the primetime series A Soldier’s Heart, Nash initially captured our hearts as the Grand Kid Questor of Star Circle Kids Quest Season 1 and one of the pioneers of the now-defunct gag show Goin’ Bulilit.

From rending our hearts with his notable portrayal of the iconic character Santino in May Bukas Pa, Zaijian has incredibly grown into becoming one of the most bankable teen actors of his generation as he now plays a variety of challenging roles in Ipaglaban Mo, Maalaala Mo Kaya, and series such as Bagani.

Meanwhile, Carlo Aquino, John Prats, Geoff Eigenmann, and Arjo Atayde were all products of the popular youth-oriented program Ang TV and went on to remain active in the local entertainment scene at present. Carlo takes on the role of Private Abe Kamlun in A Soldier’s Heart, John juggles his time as a Banana Sundae mainstay and concert director, Geoff last appeared in The Killer Bride and Ipaglaban MoSaleslady” episode, while Arjo continues to amaze us with his acting chops, such as in his most recent projects The General’s Daughter, 24/7, and iWant’s “Love Lockdown.

The next list is comprised of actors who first charmed us as teen heartthrobs.

From being that lanky, timid boy in the 2010 remake of Gimik, Daniel turned out to become one of the biggest names in the country, not just as a remarkable actor, but as a singer and recording artist as well. The same goes for his contemporary Enrique Gil, whose first-ever starring stint in Good Vibes paved the way for him to score various opportunities, with the well-loved series Make It With You being his latest.

All alumni of Pinoy Big Brother Gerald Anderson, James Reid, and Kit Thompson are able to prove that they’re definitely more than just cute faces. Gerald became among the most bankable actors in the local entertainment scene and currently stars in the action-drama series A Soldier’s Heart as Alex Marasigan, James delights us both with his acting chops and awesome music, and Kit does not only captivate us with his finely chiseled body, but with his impressive performances as an actor as well.

From being one of the cast members of Ang TV 2, JM de Guzman headlined a slew of films and dramas, including the well-loved family drama Pamilya Ko and in the iWant digital flick “Love Lockdown.”
Beginning at the age of 14, those who were able to witness his rise as one of the promising young actors in the late 90s probably already had a hint that he’s going to be among the biggest stars in the country through his earliest portrayals, such as in Gimik and Tabing Ilog. And in the previous years, he went on to astound us with his performances both on the small and big screen, with “One More Chance” (2007), “A Very Special Love” (2008), and “The Trial” (2014) as among his most notable works.

Diether Ocampo and Sam Milby may not have started as child stars or teen heartthrobs, but that didn’t hinder them from landing a spot in the industry. From captivating us with his television and film appearances, not to mention being a member of the iconic boy group The Hunks, Diether went on to impress with his acting chops in Bagani and the iWant original film “Sunday Night Fever.”

On the other hand, Sam first charmed us with his controversial stint in the inaugural season of Pinoy Big Brother and continues to do so at present. He swoons us not just with his handsome looks and unmistakable vocal prowess, but with his enthralling acting chops, as seen on Halik and in the upcoming drama Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin.

Through the years, we’re not only able to witness the changes in their physical appearances, but with how they also matured in terms of their personalities and on-screen performances. Isn’t it amazing to grow up along them?
