The soulful birit styles of Angeline, Morissette, Jona, and Klarisse known as the Birit Queens

The world is a stage and it has many times been blown away by Filipino singers especially those who can get to the top of their singing voices. Both foreign and local listeners are completely mesmerized by Pinoy “birit” styles like those of Angeline Quinto, Morissette Amon, Klarisse de Guzman and Jona, collectively known as the Birit Queens.

Angeline Quinto

Equipped with an angelic powerful voice and big dreams, Angeline Quinto dominated the Kapamilya talent competition Star Power which ushered her to the OPM scene. One quality fans love about this singing champ is the soft-heartedness that echoes to her soulful renditions of “hugot” hits. Angeline is hailed as the Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs for the emotional and passionate singing style, a voice that’s both soothing and powerful, just the right balance to make a song’s narrative deeply touching and real. She sketched pain, love, and all kinds of “hugot” to the soundtracks of teleseryes like The Legal Wife, Apoy sa Dagat, Maria La Del Barrio, and Sana Bukas Pa Ang Kahapon.

Morissette Amon

Seasoned performer Morissette Amon has blessed almost all corners of the music world with her raw talent. She’s been in singing competitions, theater stage, television, recording industry, and international shows. Dubbed as the Asia’s Phoenix, Morissette can even send the entire universe gawking at her breathtakingly insane whistle register. With her heavenly talent, Morissette raises not only notes but the Philippine flag as well. She was invited to share the stage with Jessie J during the international superstar’s concert in 2014. She was chosen to be part of Bolt of Talent, multiple Grammy winner Michael Bolton’s show in 2017. Last May, amid the pandemic, the songstress represented the country in the “One Love Asia” benefit concert supported by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) wherein she was joined by other Asian artists. There’s no doubt that the Asia’s Phoenix will continue to soar higher as one of OPM’s key players.

Klarisse de Guzman

The second place finish in The Voice of the Philippines Season 1 did not hinder Klarisse de Guzman from breaking through the music scene. Baptized as the Soul Diva, Klarisse gives listeners a heartwarming treat as she taps into her deepest emotions to deliver teardrop-inducing yet empowering “hugot” songs. The versatile diva is blessed with a wide vocal range that lets her play with different singing styles. In a career that spans seven years, Klarisse was able to make a name for herself and create chart-topping hits including “Wala Na Talaga” “Mahal Mo Pa Ba Ako,” and “Paalam Na.”

Jona

A former member of a pop trio, Jona took the spotlight on her own by joining the Kapamilya Network in 2016. Her impressive talent landed her a regular stint on the ASAP Natin ‘To stage, several hit albums, and international shows. Jona’s voice is a unique combination of power and soul, making her an effective interpreter of love anthems including “Pusong Ligaw” from the Kapamilya series with the same title. She also lent her voice to “Tinatapos Ko Na,” a Himig Handog 2018 composition, later on, used as a theme song for the Tagalized K-drama series The World of a Married Couple. Jona is highly praised for her classic melismatic singing style or playing with melodic variations. The Philippines’ Soul Princess has bagged multiple awards from The PMPC Star Awards for Music, Awit Awards, and The World Championship of the Performing Arts (WCOPA).

With their exceptional and powerful vocals, the Birit Queens will never back down from any high pitched challenge! So, never miss a tune from them!
